Newsflash: Osama bin Laden is SAUDI ARABIAN. -- He is (supposedly) in Afghanistan. -- Afghanistan is NOT Iraq.

Our going in to Iraq had absolutely NOTHING to do with 9/11, or WMDs, we soon found out.

I'm quoting you in specific simply because it's the most recent post, not because I'm singling you out.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this thread was supposed to be about Obama winning, not Bush, nor the war. I can see how things moved from where they started to where they are now, but could we please stay with the purpose of the thread? Otherwise people will just come in and start throwing (for lack of a better word) stupid things around because everyone has an opinion on the war.

I'm not old enough to vote, and personally I'm for staying in the war, but I would have still have voted for Obama. He promised change, which is something we need, he promised to get rid of lobbyists, which I also think is needed. He made a lot of promises, and now he is wisely stressing the point that he may not be able to accomplish all of them in one term. I have high hopes for him and am glad to see a new direction.

@a scawy ghost: It's perfectly reasonable for a conversation to start at one point and flow to another. It's just silly to try and keep a conversation on one topic, because that is not how conversation nor thoughts flow.

As far as I know, there's no reason to believe that bin Laden himself in is Pakistan.

The Pakistani people want our HELP, not to be bombed in the middle of the night.

A person's race should not have anything to do with the reason they're elected President. Yet, Obama won primarily because he's black. The electing of the president should be based on experience and capability to do the job.

McCain=Bush; No it doesn't. They may both be Republicans and they may share some of the same ideals, but that doesn't necesarily mean that McCain would've reacted to things in the same manner of Bush.

Simply put, McCain had more experience. He admitted that he was weak in the economics field, and was willing to surround himself with people knowledgable about it.

Also, the fact that Lincoln and Obama are similar in their inexperience doesn't mean anything. Obama hadn't even served a full term in the Senate before he ran for the presidency. He was only a junior Senator. Not to mention, once again folks, this also doesn't mean that they would've responded in the same ways. They are still two different people.

let's get something straight right now obama is not a socialist there is an actual socialist party and he is part of the domocratic party therefore he is not a socialist he is not a communist he is not a terrorist he is not a nazi he is not muslim (even if he was i don't think that should matter) he is not out to kill us all and his being elected does not mean were all doomed to four years of hell. i think it is good that obama has been elected i think he is ambitious and inovative and i think that is just what we need right now

Personally, I think that he got the majority of votes BECAUSE of his race. If Hilary was the candidate for the democrats I bet a lot of woman would of voted for her.

I was a neutral party, but I am upset that Obama ended up winning because my families income is slightly larger then most and we are going to be stormed with taxes. That much I know. Sure, it helps others, but what happened to all men being treated equal? Giving someone more taxes because maybe they went to college or are higher in a certain profession then say a thirty year old, is not equal! OK, I am going into my republican democrat rant, please excuse that last sentence...

I also do not see why people are making it such a big deal that an African American won. From my point of view, one could of won a decade ago, it is just the fact that he was the first one.

Personally, this was not an election of the needs for Americans, because so many people who have never voted, voted for Obama because of his race! I am not being racist, just making an observation.
