"So I'm to wed a mute I see," Alister muttered under his breath as he took his seat beside her. For someone reason he was not surprised that she was a thick headed girl. The way she acted made him think Snobby b***h but he was sure to keep that to himself. He sat there waiting to get this over so he could continue what he had planned for the day. In fact, he had left his weapon by the door since he would walk out of there quickly and resume his hunting. If she refused to speak with him, then he would not waste his breath on her either. It was clear that the two were acting like children.

The servants stood by watching the two. Every now and then they would mutter something to one another and Alister would shoot a glare at them as if telling them to keep quiet.

" O randomly met one, what chance fortune may reunite us once more? "

Asriel's brow twitched. Though she did not care much for this insolent fool, why did she care so much on what he might've thought of her? She couldn't tell what he was thinking, probably insulting her perhaps, and it bothered her to the point where she dared to give him a small glance. She caught his eye and negated eye contact, staring at the surface of the small table before them. For the split second she had given him a look, she had looked at his fair face. It did not hold any creases of hardship, nothing flawing his porcelain face. He was beautiful. Asriel blushed but shook her head gently, not liking to think such thoughts. Besides, he called her mute. How rude.

The double doors opened slowly and in entered a short, old man followed by a tall, gawkier one. The shorter man bowed before the two and introduced himself as a scribe and his royal document writer. With them came several pieces of paper, one of which was a long draft in delicate letters. The treaty. It was on adorned paper and held the seal of both kingdoms. Her grandfather had already signed it and the other signature on the other side was probably that man's father, the current Demetrian king. After reading the treaty in full, Asriel didn't make much sense of it. It was filled with complicated rules and details, all of which Asriel didn't understand. The only thing she did understand was that the thin line that crossed the bottom of the page was where she was supposed to sign. The blank stared at her, as if insulting her. Asriel hesitated, unsure of signing it and looked to the man besides her to sign first.

Alister paid no attention to anyone anymore, not even the gossiping servants. He wanted to back out like the free man he was. When the young woman beside her glanced at him, he simply didn't pay attention to it. He was lost in his own thoughts but that was all pushed away when the two men walked in. They showed him the documetns and soon he was staring at the line that was left there for his signature to sit upon. It almost made him feel sick, it felt as if he were signing his soul to the devil but instead of getting something he wanted, he was getting something his father wanted. Never did he have much of a choice other then being able to train the Knights and fight in battles. Now, he wished he was out fighting like a free man, fighting and living his own life rather then being told how his life should be run.

If Alister knew what the young woman beside him was going through back at her Kingdom, his perspective on her would change and he would probably treat her like a woman should be treated. But, since he didn't know anything, he would treat her like she deserved to be treated with such a nasty attitude. Alister held the quail in his hand as he stared at that line, the line that mocked him and teased him to the point where he wanted to shred that document a part. None the less, he quickly signed his name and sat back down feeling exhausted as if it took all his energy to writing simply letters.

And with a small flourish of her hand, Asriel signed her name in small, cursive letters on the paper. She handed the ink pen to the taller of the two who excused themselves and shuffled out. the maids also followed suit, leaving the two dreadfully alone. Asriel placed her hands in her lap, taking in the awkward silence between the two. It made her feel unsure of herself, an emotion she hated very much so.

"Umm..." She paused, uncertain of how to speak for a moment. And then she blanked out. What was she supposed to say? What were words again? Who was in front of her again? How did you speak again? Asriel grew nervous and she hated herself for feeling so until she finally made something audible come out. "It's a...pleasure to meet you," she managed to force out.

"Hm, so you can speak, well that's good. Though men normally wish for a women who doesn't speak for fear of nagging, I actually would hate to be married to one who has no voice," Alister said bluntly as he stood up and looked down at her. "If you mean such words then it's a pleasure to meet you as well. Now, would you like to stay here by yourself or would you like me to take you to our room? If neither then you can sit there and decide what you want for I wish to head back to my hunt."

Alister was the type of man to be blunt and never the type to beat around the bush. He believed that doing so wasted time and energy and he certainly didn't want to do such things at the moment. His mother would be upset with him for deserting his wife on their first day of marriage, but quiet frankly he could careless. The woman probably disliked him the moment he walked in.

Asriel remained silent for awhile until she stood. Although her voice was a timid one at the moment, her stature held one of a strong will. She opened her mouth again, much more confidently than that of moments before. "Are you to leave your wife the first day she arrives to this poorly constructed castle? How disasteful. However, I didn't expect much from you anyways, much less manners, so I guessed that I'd be only married to you in name only," she paused, pacing past him. She turned then, looking behind her shoulder. Her timidness that she gained formerly had now dissapeared and the true Asriel began to shine. "I think I'll excuse myself first so you can go enjoy your hunt. I'll find the room myself," she remarked and left the parlor, stepping out into the hall.
After a moment, she walked down a hall. She had never walked in a castle freely before. The few times she was walking in the castle were but a few short minutes. But now, as long as she stayed here, she could wander the halls for hours. However, it also meant she had no real sense of direction on quickly got lost.

The way she spoke to him did not catch him for surprised, it only proved what he thought of her. When she was out of the room, he was left in silence but soon enough the parlor was filled with his laughter. Alister walked out and took a hold of his weapon and walked down the same direction Asriel had gone. It didn't take him long to catch up to her since his legs were far longer than hers. When he walked past her he glanced back and said, "Miss high and mighty, I think you would like to know that the room his the other direction. Perhaps you should fine a fine mannerly person as yourself to show you the way. Then again, you are quiet rude yourself. Try trimming down that nose of yours." He winked and walked off and then was gone. His comment about the nose was simply that she help her nose so high up like any snob would. He would know because he would act that way some times as well, though with the proper beat down he would treat others equally..some what.

Once outside, he called for his horse and in no time he was on her back and they rode off, back into the forest. He would most likely be back after super and be in time to go to bed. The first night with his wife would be very uncomfortable..only because he never liked the idea of sharing his bed, even though it was king size.

Asriel's cheeks grew a hot pink as she was told she was heading in the opposite direction. Her temper flared yet she quieted it. The way he spoke about her angered her, yes, yet she couldn't help but feel sort of guilty. A snob, huh? Asriel asked a kindly maid who led her appropriately to the quarters she'd be staying in. Asriel looked about the room.
The room itself was rather large, as was the bed. She glanced about. It was much larger than the room she was kept in and much fancier. She sat on the bed, patting the covers and sighed. If she lived like this instead of a drafty, tiny room back at home, oh! Asriel laid back, imagining living like a real princess and her mother and father living happily. She laughed at herself for a moment and rolled over. Like that'd ever happen. Asriel sat up when there came a knock upon the door. Asriel answered and it turned out to be tea. Ah, she was unused to such luxuries.

The moon was half shining through the window. Asriel continued to brush her hair, pretending that she wasn't waiting for her husband to come back. For some reason, she was thinking about him often. She frowned and tugged on a knot. In a sour mood, she braided her hair into a quick single braid and hopped into bed, sleeping on the right side curled into a ball. She tried to sleep as far away as she could from the other side, where he would sleep, yet not fall in the process. In the end, however, she found herself unable to sleep.

Alister was back in the palace before it was midnight. He ate his cold food in the kitchen before making his way up to his room. For a moment he had forgotten about the marriage and his little wife in his bed but when he walked in and saw the lump on his bed, he remember. He sighed softly and walked over to the dresser where a candle was still lit. He figured she was asleep and blew the candle out. The room was pitch black for a moment until he opened the curtains, the rays of moon light pouring out. At the window, Alister stood there staring out into the forest and the lands beyond it. The war was over and now he knew he could roam the country without having to worry about fighting the enemy...of course he couldn't do it since he had to tend to matters here and be with his wife. Despite his horrible personality at times, he was surprisingly the type of guy to stay faithful to the one he wed.

After a moment of thoughts, he unbuttoned his shirt and took it off, his torso exposed in the dim moon light. His face was flawless, but his torso was covered with many battle scars. Slowly, he walked away form the window and away from Asriel's view. After taking his trousers off but still having undergarments on, he crawled into bed and laid there trying to sleep. His eyes wound wonder over to the young woman sleeping next to him. She seemed just as sweet and fragile as any other sleeping woman, and how he hoped she was actually sweet..but instead she was a stubborn uptight girl.

When he entered the room, Asriel quickly closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep. She heard him moving about the room, wanting desperately to open her eyes yet forbade herself to. She felt light appear in the room as the curtains, or so she believed, were drawn. Asriel buried herself in her pillow, still trying to appear sleeping. She felt the bed move as he crawled under the covers next to her. After a moment, after feeling his eyes on her face did she open her eyes and stare at him balantly. "Are you going to continue to stare at me, Alister?" She finally said his name, the first that word had ever left her lips. Oh, but she didn't want to appear rude or a nasty person. She thought, maybe she'd show him but a little, and by little it was miniscule, of her kindness. A little as to not insult him directly in his face.
Asriel pulled the covers up to her chin, watching Alister before sighing. She wasn't tired; she couldn't help it. "I can't sleep," she muttered after a little while, pulling the covers to her nose as she quieted some.

When she looked at him he felt a bit better at the fact that he guessed that she wasn't really sleeping when he crawled into bed. He smiled slight and waited for a rude comment but her comment simply went through one ear and out the other but his name...for some reason, when she said it it made him feel tingly. He didn't like it. Alister turned away from her, his bare back now facing her. His chest and ads were covered with scars, but not as bad as his back.

"Just close your eyes and relax. Picture something that sooth's your nerves and you'll soon be able to sleep. If that doesn't work then just go get a servant to bring you warm milk." He stared at the door before taking his own advice since he had trouble sleeping. Soon enough he drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

Asriel stared at him for a moment, eying the scars on his broad back. He must've went through a lot. She stared at the ceiling and sighed before she too rolled over. She was unused to this, sleeping in a fancy bed, sleeping with another person much less a man. She found herself blushing again and covered her face with the blanket. She fell into a troubled sleep, finding that she was dreaming again.

Where was she? She didn't know. She looked at her hands; they weren't small anymore. She looked down at her legs; they were long. She was back to regular it seemed, no longer the child she was in her day dream. Yet, she was shrouded in darkness, underwater. For a moment, she hadn't thought about breathing as the water chilled her to the bone. Then she lost it and began choking, drowning in the dark, black water. She was frightened, faces beckoning her to die, surrounding her with whispers of death. They mentioned how hated she was, how she was living a meaningless life. And in the end, Asriel truly wanted to give up struggling and die in this seemingly bottomless pool of water. That was, until a hand brought her up. She thought it was her mother who saved her, who'd be adorned in white and gold and an angelic face smiling upon her with bliss. She was pulled up into the surface, coughing up water and trying to intake air before she noticed the figure above her.
"Mother," her voice reverbrated, rippling through her dream. And yet, the figure stood. She couldn't get a good look at her face since the sun shone brightly behind them, blinding Asriel and bringing her to tears. Who was this again? Soaking, Asriel shivered, trying to get up yet her body could only move in slow motion as the figure began to back up and run away from her. Asriel reached forward, wanting desperately not to be left alone. It was her mother, she knew it, taunting her by leaving her alone in this cruel world. "Wait!" The figure dissapeared and Asriel was left under the persimmon tree on the hill alone. Asriel began to sob.
"Asriel," a voice called to her in an enchanting tone. Asriel turned her head, tears still brimming in her eyes. "Alister?" It awfully looked like the man who was currently sleeping next to her. Yet his face was blurred and the dream grew fuzzy. The last she could make out was the hand outstretched before her, beckoning her to take it.

"Disgusting," Asriel woke with the word still stuck in her tongue. The sun shone brightly through the window. She wiped her face with her hand, now remembering where she was. She was in Demetria, in bed with that imbecile. Asriel yawned, her eyes adjusting as she looked about the room. She slid out of the bed, stretching and went to the window. Her dream...She gave a sigh; her mind was playing tricks with her. And at the end of it, the memory of it plagued her, wanting her to throw up. She turned then and looked towards the bed where her husband was supposed to be sleeping.

Alister had woken up hours ago, right when the sun was rising. He slipped out of bed and got dressed before heading out. When he reached the door to leave the palace, a familiar voice called out to him, causing him to pause and cringe slightly. When he turned he saw that it was his mother, with a face showing her disappointment in him. "Yes?" he muttered as he avoided eye contact since the woman had the eyes of a demon when ever she was displeased. If only he had woken up a bit earlier, he would be out already and no where near this situation he was in now. Even though he could not read minds, he knew what his mother wished to speak to him about.

"Did I not tell you to remain with your wife all day yesterday? Instead you go off to play your silly little games!" She rose her voice to show how angry she was with him but looking at his face she knew she would get through to him. "Be back in time for lunch at least, you are to spend the whole day with her to make up for your rudeness and if I hear that you have abandon her again, I will be sure that you not leave your room at all. Understood?"

Alister stood there half listening to what she was saying. All he could really think about was being outside where nature accepted him. He managed to tune into the last part and he had no choice but to nod and promise. When she left, he sighed heavily and ran out. By the time Asriel woke up, Alister was back from the forest and now sat below the very window she was by. The garden was below and he sat on a bench with a hawk settled on his glow covered hand. He stroked the birds belly as he fed it fruit after it had ate it's daily mouse.

" O randomly met one, what chance fortune may reunite us once more? "

Finding the bed empty, she felt a tad of dissapointment. Why? She didn't know. Slowly, her eyes went back to the window until movement below her caught her attention. She leaned forward, her head tapping the glass as she watched Alister with a hawk. Caressing its breast, Alister actually looked peaceful and serene with the bird, a new light of him. She watched him for a second, admiring the scene before shaking her head.
Asriel straightened herself, turning to the dresser and quickly dressed herself out of her night gown. She released her hair from its binds that were her braid and let it cascade down her back in a wavy pattern. Asriel then decided she wanted to explore the castle today, to have the freedom of walking the halls on her own accord. Yet, breakfast was first and Asriel felt herself getting slightly hungry. She left the room, closing the door with a soft click and sped down the hall. She had asked a maid yesterday to tell her how to get to the dining hall from the bedroom, Asriel faintly remembering all the turns and doors to go through.
Maids had given her odd looks and she attracted many stares as she headed towards the dining hall. Asriel felt a tad self conscious, curious as to why she had received many looks yet proceeded with a profound confidence, entering a large room with a dining room table. Asriel felt out of place here, unsure of how to proceed until a maid, nervous as ever, addressed Asriel. "Umm...M..Milady..If you...w..would..t.take a seat...Y.your meal would be served...shortly," she murmured, bowing and ran off. Asriel frowned yet seated herself. Many people here seemed to be unused to foreigners, she assumed. She was the first real southerner to step foot in the royal castle, the first Eurekan in a couple hundred years to be able to stand in Demetrian lands without getting stabbed. Asriel sighed and scratched her arm. These clothes, which were given to her by the seamstresses and tailors here at the castle, were uncomforable, itchy and heavy for her liking, She was unused to such clothes; Eurekan clothes were much lighter and airy, much brighter and detailed than the dark clothes of Demetria. She cupped her face in her hand as she waited at the end of the table. She gave a long sigh. It wasn't like she missed her country; a country in which her grandfather who hated her ruled. No, not quite homesick for the room she was locked up in for all her life. She shook her head. No, it was different here. She had free will. The prospect of touring the castle seemed to lift her bad mood from earlier in the morning.
