but now I see how wrong something can turn out, if you're not quite sure how to write it...for all english-speakers: some sentences here that are from non-english-speakers must sound really really wrong for you...

most of your german phrases are a bit wrong sweatdrop

I don't know the way of ordering the sentence using seit, but I do know that the sentence Ich spreche deutsch weil ich sprechen kann is a correct sentence.

Wouldn't it be Ich habe ein iPod Video vor mein Gebutstag bekommen? That way you are saying I got an iPod for my birthday vs saying I have and iPod for my birthday.

you're quite right, just that it has to be "zu meinem Geburtstag"--"vor" is a preposition.
