Space Travel now? later?

the only way to go the speed of light is to start at the speed of light or faster. it is impossible to gradually build up and then pass the light barrier. it is belived that a particle exists that goes faster than the speed of light. so in theory, this particle could arrive at it's destination before it begins. there could be something to this. but in the meantime, wormholes are much more plausible. time paradoxes aside, to create a wormhole, one must read the book "How to Make a Time Machine," only because the process is a 200 page process (give or take 10 pages).

To be technical, photons are the particles which compose light and radiation, and travel only at the speed of light. "Speeding them up" or "slowing them down" doesn't actually change their speed, only their frequency and wavelength. The thing is, photons are the only objects that we know of that don't require acceleration or deceleration; they simply go at the speed of light, and then stop or bounce. And since time slows down as things approach the speed of light, does that mean that photons exist outside of time?

Sorry, I'm getting off track. I'd like to hear more about these particles which are believed to pass the light barrier, though.
