So... exciting things might be happening relatively soon. My parents and I went to take a look at an apartment - more like one of the places that's part of a duplex - that's available for rent in my hometown. It was really cute and matched with a lot of the things I wanted. I liked it so much (and figured I'm not going to find anything else with this much to offer for the same price) that I told my Dad I wanted to proceed with applying to rent it.

Just waiting to hear confirmation that my application is being accepted and what the next step is.
Pretty exciting though.

While it's not a make-or-break detail, the one downside to this place is you can't have any animals. It's a shame but I can deal with it for now. At least I know someone in the neighborhood has a cat because they were hanging out on the little storage shed in my back "yard" while I was checking the place out with my parents. biggrin
Maybe I'll be able to gain the cat's trust enough to be able to interact with it if it ever hangs out in the yard again. whee

While I was a bit uncertain the last time I considered renting a place with a friend-of-a-friend (mostly because of who I would be sharing it with and how soon they wanted me to move in with them), this time I'm feeling a bit more confident. I think it's because I will have the place to myself - rather than sharing it with another person - and I can move my belongings slowly over as I figure out where I want things to be. Plus I'll still be close to home... and will be living in my hometown, which is a bonus.

I know it's still in the uncertain stage at this time but I've already started a board on Pinterest where I've been pinning decorating ideas of how I would like to set up my place. It's a bit fun to actually have a place to consider doing things (i.e. "I could do that to cover the electrical panel in the main bedroom") with rather than just a general overall idea ("That looks like a nice living room").

Need to remember to go pick up Doctor Who from the library since it's in for me now.

So, I ended up going to the Library during my small break from working at the Front Desk. I figured I would take advantage of the break in the weather to go do it and run less of a chance of missing getting the Doctor Who DVD tonight since I usually hang out after I clock off from work to talk with my co-worker. It's not that bad of a walk actually.

Received word back from the landlord and while he would've liked a higher income amount, he is willing to move forward with allowing me to rent the apartment at his duplex. I will be giving him a call probably this evening to get in touch with him on my decision - that I wish to rent his place.
The rent price may be higher than what they usually recommend a person doing but considering everything the place offers, I'm willing to splurge a bit.

As a result, of this new change, I will have to cut back on some of my miscellaneous "fun" activities until I get a better feel of where my money goes with the new responsibilities. Thus in mind, I have decided to opt out of going to Wizard World Portland. Yes, I mentioned earlier I considered going and getting the Smallville group shot. However, the cast members aren't people who I consider a "make-or-break" scenario. It would be neat to meet them but I would rather save my money for more important things (or for future exciting activities). Plus I think the excitement for them has toned down a bit now than what my feelings would've been backed when Smallville was still on TV.
And if anything... I can always try catching them some other time, if I really want to get a photo with them.

At least I don't have to worry about what I would be cosplaying for WWP anymore.
Plus it's not as fun going to a con when you don't have many friends attending. I know of at least one acquaintance-friend who made a comment they would be going. But all of my other con friends are saving their money and time for their ECCC adventures.

Not to mention, the price for that group photo I was considering on doing was pretty expensive - regardless of how many people I would've selected to do the photo(s) with. So... while I'm sad I won't be getting that photo-op, I'm glad I don't have to worry about spending that much money.

It was a bit funny last night when talking about what I would probably have to cut back on - fun activity wise. Dad was all "You'll probably have to cut back on how many movies you see" and I was like "I hardly see any movies as it is with my work schedule." Not counting the FREE employee screenings, the last film I saw - aside from CATS I saw this month - was back in November with my parents, as my treat for them.
