Ashriel smiled at the thank you, and she moved again about the kitchen. After a few minutes, she was done making herself food, and she was sitting at the table, chewing and watching the tv. A few minutes of silence passed before knocks came on the door and Ashriel's phone began ringing. Ashriel, instead of opening the door like she usually would, answered her phone. "Err...Jen...could you guys...maybe...wait until tomorrow?" She asked shyly, not wanting to mention what was going on with Raevyn, just in case he didn't want them to know.

 The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Hearing the knocking and the ringing phone, Raevyn groaned. Great. Just bloody great. That was just what he needed - Not. He put a paw over his face, even as it switched to a human hand. "Tell them to bugger off. It's bad enough having you here. I don't need them too." He said, sounding mildly annoyed.  The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel frowned at the one thing he said, sighing and going into the bedroom to talk to Jennalin. She shut the door behind her, and she began to talk at a level the phone would only pick up. After a while, she came out, putting down her phone. She ate silently, not commenting on what had happened.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn watched her go, wondering what he'd said wrong. Because he certainly got the feeling that he'd done something wrong. When she came back out, he waited patiently, watching her. It soon became clear she wasn't going to tell him, so he asked. "What did they have to say?" The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel looked at Raevyn, finishing off her food. "Lucian wanted to see if Jen could stay with us while he shops - he's still paranoid about taking her out." She said quietly, although it was obvious in her tone that it wasn't all. She moved to sit on the couch, her feet pulled up with her.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "I see." Raevyn murmured. He watched her for a minute, his amber eyes never changing despite his form. "What else?" He asked, knowing there was something more to this. There was something she wasn't telling him. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel looked at Raevyn and shrugged. "Nothing." She answered quietly, hoping he wouldn't notice the single tear streak she knew was there. After all, he was busy with constantly shifting. A second passed, and she'd found a way to change the subject. "If you were...injured, like I found you, on your birthday, would this still happen?" She asked softly, her eyes on him, hoping he wouldn't change the subject back.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn watched her, trying to figure out what was wrong. He couldn't get over the notion he'd done something wrong but he was clueless as to what. So he mulled it over as he answered Ashriel. "Unfortunately yes. It just gets that much more excruciating. It would force me to take a human form, which is extremely painful and hard to do when I'm hurt. I have no control over this. I tried that one year. Never doing it again." He said, sounding disgruntled. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel nodded, understanding. After he answered her, she fell silent, staring at the television. There was something in her eyes, however, that made it obvious that she wasn't actually watching it; she was staring beyond it. A soft shimmer surrounded her, much like the one that Raevyn might have just barely seen at the park that morning. She yawned after a while, her eyes drooping slightly - another sign of the small amount of tears she shed - and she leaned back against the back of the couch.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn's amber eyes never left Ashriel, watching her intently. "Ashriel, what's wrong?" He finally gave in and asked. He was starting to see just the faintest shimmer of her aura again and he'd realized that the visibility of it was linked to her emotions. That he could see it meant she was clearly upset. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel bit her lip, glancing down at Raevyn, slightly startled when he spoke to her again. "Nothing." She lied quietly, not speaking loud enough for her voice to give her away. Of course, she didn't notice, but the shimmer was gradually ascending to a glow. Very, very slowly, but it was increasing.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Ashriel. Do not lie to me." Raevyn said disapprovingly, hurt lacing his voice. "I don't like it and it's too obvious. And you're glowing again, so whatever it was, is severely upsetting you and I like that even less." His voice softened as he added. "I feel like I did something wrong and I want to fix it, but I can't unless you tell me what I did." The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel's stomach churned, and she sighed, looking at him again. "When you said you didn't want Jen here, you implied that it was bad to have me here." She said softly, a single tear rolling down her cheek. "You said 'it's bad enough having you here'..." She said softly looking at him. Her eyes looked at him, wondering if he'd meant to say it. They looked like they'd been hurt; it was surprising how a single misplaced phrase could easily hurt her.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn's eyes widened as he realized what the problem was. He groaned, putting a paw over his muzzle. He was SUCH an idiot......He hadn't even realized what his words might do. He force himself to his feet as they became human. It was a short walk to the couch, but he stumbled as he shifted twice on the way. He didn't let it stop him though, until he was sitting on the couch. He nuzzled her with his panther muzzle. "I'm sorry Ashriel. I didn't mean it like that. I'm just.....not used to having anyone see me so vulnerable." He admitted, looking down, shame in his amber eyes. "It.....It makes me nervous, having someone around while this happens. I'm more exposed than I've ever been." He lay his head on her lap, not caring about the shifting. "I don't want you to go though. Stay with me. I don't want to be alone anymore." His voice took on a pleading tone she'd never heard before. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel let a tear drip down her cheek as he stumbled to join her. When he nuzzled her, she moved to pet his head gently - a movement that was natural no matter the form he took. After he finished speaking, Ash was silent for a couple of moments before she even went to begin speaking. "It's..." She paused, trying to gather her thoughts into words. "It's fine. I mean...you shouldn't worry about feeling vulnerable. When you first revealed that you weren't exactly a housecat, I felt vulnerable. When you took me in to meet Mama Bear, I felt vulnerable. Every time you see that I'm lying, I feel vulnerable. I'm not used to anyone knowing the truth, Rae... It still makes me vulnerable." Again she stopped, trying to figure out where she had been going. "Where I'm going with this is...we'll always feel vulnerable at one point or another, but we have to trust one another to make it through. I want to stay with you...but...I can't if you don't trust me." She said softly, her eyes looking down with him. Her glow had reached its peak, and it was now shining brightly enough for even Ashriel to notice it. Her eyes widened as she noticed it; she'd never really seen her own glow before - just those of others. She wasn't exactly sure how to go on.
