Peter awkwardly walked around the room, feeling nervous making eye contact with any of the attendees around him. Although he was there for work as a new photographer at the Daily Bugle, he couldn't help but feel like being a kid crashing the adult's party.
"Ah! Mr. Osborn! Miss Octavius! What a delight to see you!"
Peter glanced over in the direction of the man's loud voice, the names catching his attention.
"That... felt weird," said a female's voice in response. "But I'll allow it."
Peter tried looking for a gap in the crowd to see who the female was. He was certain he had heard that voice again.
"I am surprised to see you back in town," continued the man. "I almost thought you had left New York and would never look back again."
"Wouldn't that be the dream?" commented a young man, his response muffled as he started to take a drink from his glass.
"Harry," reprimanded the female. "Ignore him."
The man laughed. "Oh, I'm quite familiar with Mr. Osborn's antics. Although he doesn't remember me, I've known him since he was a kid."
"I never said I didn't remember you," retorted Harry.
"You're not helping matters," responded the female.
There was a brief silence before the awkward moment was broken by the gentleman continuing the conversation.
"So, Miss Octavius, what breaks you back to New York?"
There was a brief pause before she finally replied, "Let's just say business."
Peter was thankful when there finally was a break in the crowd and he could see who was talking. He was shocked when he discovered the voice belonged to exactly who he thought it was. Though he wasn't expecting to see her dressed so fancy.
