Back to Fiddler on the Roof...
It's funny to have seen Alfred's version of the play now and actually be able to put visual context to the songs.
Like when I had my Mom listen to Alfred singing "If I Were A Rich Man," she commented on how it sounds like he's drunk... which honestly, it does sound that way. But storyline wise his character hasn't even been to the bar yet; that's not until several scenes later. sweatdrop

I'm delighted to know one of the local art museums currently has an art exhibit featuring Frida and Deigo's paintings. Definitely plan on checking it out since I recently watched the Frida film.
It'll be nice to put some visual context to their artistic work after learning about their life through that film.

Bless the folks on Tumblr for helping me gather up some more of Alfred's works that aren't available on any streaming services because of how obscure they are. I love being able to expand my knowledge of his works throughout his career.

So... I had this random thought/fantastical scenario the other day after watching Fiddler on the Roof. It was sort of an improv concept for an activity for theater folks to do. There was a group of us folks just hanging out and people kept being paired off to do different themed prompts. The particular prompt given in my scneario was "Musical" but it couldn't be improv songs (because I imagined my friend and her improv cast mates being there); you had to create a scene but each person had to pull songs from different musicals. Alfred Molina was chosen as one half to participate in this scenario and I was the other. And suddenly I came up with the perfect pairing of songs...Alfred: (selected "Do You Love Me?" from Fiddler on the Roof) *sings* "Do you love me?"Me: *spoken* Do I what? "Do you love me?"
Do I love you... *begins singing* (selected "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful" from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella) "Do I love you because you're beautiful? Or are you beautiful because I love you? Am I making believe I see in you, a man too perfect to be really true. Do I want you because you're wonderful or are you wonderful because I want you? Are you the sweet invention of a lover's dream or are you really as beautiful as you seem?"
"But do you love me?" (spoken) "The first time I met you... I was scared."
(spoken [briefly sliding into FOTR]) "I was shy."
(spoken) "I was nervous."
(spoken) "So was I."
"And now I'm asking... Do you love me?"
(spoken [returns to Cinderella]) "Maybe you're imagining me. Maybe I'm imagining you too."
"I know... but do you love me?"
"Are you the sweet invention of a lover's dream? Or are you really as beautiful as you seem?"
(spoken) "Then you love me?"
(spoken, slipping into FOTR again) "I suppose I do."
(spoken) "And I suppose I love you too."

So yeah... that was my crazy scenario idea I came up with. I'm quite pleased with how well those two songs blended together. xd

Oh, good. I was able to find a link to Alfred's Red play performance as well. So I can watch that too.
