"I just don't want to see you caught up in doom and gloom so soon after I got here." Adrian said as he followed the girls to the subway. "So I take it you've worked out an emergency plan in case of mutate related problems?"

Smith sat down as Flitt vanished again after bringing his boss back to the City. Smith tapped his fingers against the monitors for a few moments, wondering where and how he could find the annoyance that Ellswood had now become. The man was a good, steady investor when he could be bothered. On the other hand, Ellswood had only been that steady investor a hundred years ago, when Smith had met him as his own great-grandfather. Now, he was either deranged or playing an incredibly subtle game that Smith couldn't even see the beginning of.
Since he had sent an obviously-unintelligent melee-based minion into a crowded residential area to attempt to capture or murder a respected member of the community, Smith was heavily inclined to believe that 'Vamp' had lost his mind along with his desire for an inconspicuous name. That would make it easier to track him. "Flitt."
Flitt appeared behind Smith within five seconds. "I require the presence of Lycan, Breaker, and Face within five minutes, and request a new Key and Lock from Toomling within the hour."
Flitt vanished again, reappearing at intervals with three people, then appearing a final time with a brass key and a small slip of paper. "Here you go, boss."
Smith took the key and paper from Flitt and turned to the three. "James 'Lycan' Smith, Erik 'Breaker' Svendok, and Niels 'Face' Jakin, yes?"
Each nodded as his name was said, and Smith continued. "You have all requested what you each referred to as 'security work.' James, you will be stationed as a border guard. Uniforms available at Tower 4. Erik, demolition duty for now. Make sure the rubble falls away from civilians and the unprotected. You may both leave."
After the first two of the three left, Smith glanced at Flitt before turning to the final of the three. "Mr. Face, I know full-well that I am not looking at your actual appearance. Disguise yourself in a manner appropriate to New York City, lay your hand on Flitt's arm, and keep an eye on Amaya, the young woman I went to meet a few minutes ago. Flitt will take you to a location with a view of her residence and indicate its location before departing. You will use the Lock and Key provided to report to me no less than every other day. Do not make contact with Amaya, the young man staying with her, or her daughter, unless their lives are in immediate and extreme danger."
Face nodded as his face and body changed. Within moments he was almost supernaturally forgettable, a face that would be a face in the crowd even when completely on its own. Normal humans would be completely unable to remember him, even if they held lengthy conversations with him. Mutates would have severe trouble, even if they could force out the memories with enough will. Face and Flitt disappeared a few moments later. Smith sat back and turned to the monitors as they vanished, pressing a key to call up one of the few people he treated as an equal in the City. The face that came up on the screen after a few moments was... disturbing, to say the least. Its owner had, to all appearances, performed exploratory plastic surgery on himself with very poor results. "Smith. You want what?"
"Hello, Seesee. Augustin Ellswood's head on a platter, but since I know you're noncombat I'll settle for a phone number he'll pick up."
There was a clicking sound from the monitor, as of someone pecking away at a keyboard, and the mutilated face was replaced by a phone number next to a graphic of an off-the-hook phone. It was already ringing. "I owe you one again, Seesee."
Now Smith had only to wait and see if Ellswood would pick up the phone.
((I have short bios and abilities for every one of the characters mentioned above, and upwards of three dozen others, to be supplied on demand.))

spartan309 Alex looked up at Alexia, hoping she wouldn't lie and leave her. "Please stay... Please help me..." He uttered, still in tears. Alexia hugged her best friend tightly. "Of course, I'll stay." she said, fighting her own tears, "I'll stay as long as you want me to, Alex."

Alex only held her tighter when she said she would stay. "Please stay... stay forever... you don't belong in the slums... you deserve better..." He uttered, still in tears. He was ready to just fall over and crumble in his own depression and sadness.

She was a little surprised at his words, but she only held Alex tighter and refused to let him fall. "I'll stay forever, Alex." Alexia said, "I swear. I won't allow anything else to huer or scar you. You're my best friend and you shouldn't been in this depressed state. You deserve to be happy. I'll do whatever it takes for you to be happy again. Just tell me what you need to be happy and I'll give you it." It felt as if a huge knife was raking her heart; she wanted-needed Alex to be happy.

Alex looked at her with a weak smile. "T-thank you..." With that said he drifted off to sleep, still wrapped around Alexia.

She smiled a little and ran her fingers through his hair. "He fell asleep." she said, "How cute." Carefully moving Alex, she got him to lay on his bed, but Alexia was scared he'd wake up and start balling his eyes out again because she was gone, so she simply laid beside him and watched him sleep, soon joining him in slumber as well.

Kierra smiled at him and looked back at the man at the counter. He was just staring at Rock's "home made" skates. Kierra stood,a bit wobbly sense they weren't on the ice, but she was smiling excitedly the entire time. She walked out onto the ice and skated away quickly.

Rock followed her to the ice rink and stepped on the ice with a sure feet. He quickly caught up with her, his arms behind his back, passed by her and jumped and skated backwards while facing her.

"More or less." Amaya said with a shrug as they descended the stairs and made their way to the platform. "More of precautions and knowing what Calista is capable of and what could possibly go wrong I guess. No more different than telling her what to do if a stranger tried to take her anyway."

"True. At least she's got more control over her powers now, right?" Adrian asked, his hands in his pockets as he followed alongside Amaya.

"I have a bunch of control now!" Calista cheered as she hung onto Adrain's arm and skipped. "I've been working really hard and mommy taught me a lot and now I can make all sorts of stuff." She said proudly.
Amaya only chuckled and nodded, seeing as Calista answered the question for her. The train came screeching down the tracks until it halted and the three could board. Once they were on and the doors were closed, Amaya moved towards the empty, back part of the train and took a seat.

"Well this feels familiar." Adrian said with a half smile. "In an empty corner as far back from the rest of the crowd as physically possible. You certainly haven't changed a bit." he said as he sat down next to her.

"Always been more comfortable this way." Amaya replied with an easy shrug, Calista taking a seat on her lap. "Why? Have a problem with some things staying the same?"
