Mouse is amazing.
While Ashriel managed to get lost, Lucian had managed to make it back to Raevyn and Ashriel's home with Jennalin. He heard Raevyn in his head, and he answered calmly. "Yeah, we did...did you know that Ash isn't here?"
See, that wasn't so bad, was it?

Ashriel answered her phone when she heard it ring, staring around her. She'd managed to wander into a more creepy looking part of town. "Hello?" She asked, her voice normal. She didn't even really react to the creepiness of her surroundings.

Ashriel was not surprised when she heard Raevyn's voice. "Err...no. But there is a guy walking toward me...maybe he knows?" She asked, a particularly clueless moment on Ashriel's part. It was sad she would think such a thing might be safe, but, then again, this was the same girl who was willing to take in a stray cat only to end up marrying it.

Ashriel did as Raevyn said, not sure why he had said not to talk to the man. Of course, the man followed her, which confused Ashriel to no end. "Well, there are lots of warehouses...lots of broken windows...and I'm glad it is daytime, because I only see one streetlight." She said, describing one of the few places she should have known not to take a step into, but she was Ash, so she hadn't known that. Instead, she knew the cubed root of 13431. Ash looked back again, and now the man was approaching faster. "Err...Raevyn...he's following me. Maybe he's lost too?" She said, perhaps the stupidest comment she'd made thus far.
See, that wasn't so bad, was it?

Ashriel took a deep breath as she listened to Raevyn. "Okay?" She answered, clueless. She did keep walking, if only to keep away from the man like Raevyn had said. The man, however, was slowly speeding up in his steps as he approached her, and Raevyn could no doubt hear his steps now in the background, even if they were soft.

Ashriel nodded, looking about for a street sign. She didn't even notice that the man was narrowing in on her, nearly to her. She was moving to try and find a street sign - no doubt it would help Raevyn find her.
