I agree Smogon is pretty hardcore... I normally stay out of it, to that end, and I don't always agree with their tiering decisions... (IE, banning Salamence in Gen 4) Though I do respect the dedication they have to the game, and both the basic and advanced strategy I've learned from it... Ironically they also taught me to appreciate gimmick sets for Pokemon, despite their apparent dislike of them, heh
I do think the CAP project is a really neat idea though, even if it's something I wouldn't want to be involved in all the time. As is the Anime-style Battling RP business, which they put a lot of time into the maintainence and improvement of... (it's basically like DnD but with Pokemon, so far as I can explain it. I'd love that with Digimon, hehe)
