The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn watched the exchange with a detached curiosity. At Ashriel's question, he blinked in surprise. Then meowed innocently. Suddenly, as if he'd just remembered he was supposed to be a cat, Raevyn seemed more normal than he'd been since they'd met. He turned his gaze away, refusing to meet the girl's eyes. He rose and limped around the table, sniffing curiously at the papers. He batted at them playfully, not organizing them, just simply play. Like he was trying to convince Ashriel that he was a normal cat. The tiger that should be....isn't....

[A]shrielAshriel laughed gently, picking him up off the table. She took him over to the couch and set him down, looking at him. "It's a bit late for that, don't you think? I'm not stupid, and I know I wasn't imagining that earlier." Look at me, talking to this cat...though it is really weird.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn flattened his ears and hissed as he was picked up. Did she really have to keep doing that? He looked up at her and chirped, flopping down on the couch. He rolled onto his back and reached his forepaws up, looking between them at Ashriel, keeping up his facade. Silently though, he was cursing himself. How could he have been so stupid as to show off like that? The tiger that should be....isn't....

[A]shrielAshriel smirked and pet his stomach. This was how she was going to test him. A normal cat would like that. As she had seen so far, he didn't seem to. What is it about this cat?

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn freaked. Plain and simple. He couldn't help it but he couldn't stand people touching his stomach or throat. He spazzed out, locking three sets of claws in her hand, the splint stopping him from using his fourth set. He pulled her hand down as he raised his head, chomping his sharp little teeth into her skin. The tiger that should be....isn't....

[A]shriel"Ouch!" Ashriel squealed, yanking her hand away as soon as she good. "That proves it! You aren't a normal cat. What are you? And don't pretend to be a normal cat again. A normal cat likes its belly rubbed." She grinned, even though the bite was painful. She was just glad to be right. What is this cat?

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn hissed at her, flipping onto his belly. He sat up, tail twitching back and forth. His ears were lying flat against his skull, showing his displeasure. Normal cats had been domesticated for so long that they'd lost the instinctual fear of being vulnerable. Raevyn though, came from a long line of wild cats, where that fear was alive and strong. He glared at Ashriel, then turned his muzzle away from her, the universal sign for 'I'm ignoring you'. The tiger that should be....isn't....

[A]shriel"Fine then. I have to go to work, anyway." Ashriel hurried into her bathroom to treat her wound before leaving, locking her apartment door after her. She broke into a run as she headed towards the shoe store she worked at, praying that she wouldn't be late. There is definitely something different about that cat.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn didn't look at Ashriel again as she left. He waited until he was sure she was gone before turning his attention to his leg. He chewed through the bandage, pulling it off so he could look at the wound better. There was a small naked patch of skin where they'd shaved his fur to stitch it up again. 'Stupid doctor. Look at that. My beautiful black fur. Mangled!' Testing the leg, he was relieved to feel the bone knitting well. He flickered to his human form but was instantly back as a cat, hissing a curse. He still wasn't well enough to maintain his human form. He could take it though, which was a good sign. He spent the day flickering between human and cat, trying to hold it long enough to get out of the apartment. It wasn't doing anything other than exhausting himself so he went into Ashriel's bedroom, curling up on her pillow and sleeping. The tiger that should be....isn't....

[A]shrielAshriel's bed was a cheap, box-spring mattress, and it was obvious. Her covers had been bought from goodwill, and they were horribly stained.
At the shoe store, Ashriel worked through her job, hurrying home once finished and sighing. She walking into her bedroom to notice the cat curled up against her pillow, bandage chewed up. "Normal cat? Yeah right." She said aloud, sitting down at the edge of the bed. Honestly, she wanted to know what was special about her little...house guest. I wonder what he is...

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn lifted his head and looked at Ashriel. He blinked once and mewed softly then laid his head back down. He was done trying to convince her he was normal. He'd never been one for pointless tasks. As long as the girl left him alone and didn't call the cops or SPCA or something, then they'd get along fine, in his mind. The tiger that should be....isn't....

[A]shriel"I wish I knew what you are...but I'm done trying to get you to answer. I'd just appreciate knowing." Ashriel stood up, heading into the kitchen. She pulled a Tombstone out of her freezer and set the oven to preheat, muttering to herself quietly. "What the heck is that cat?" It bothered her, not knowing. Then again, it wasn't like she wanted to do anything about it. No, that would be mean. It would be prejudice against...whatever it was. Whatever.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn rose and stretched before padding after the girl. Looking around Ashriel's kitchen, it looked like someone had been in there. Someone other than her or a cat. Cupboards that a cat couldn't reach had been opened and riffled through. Raevyn had done some exploring while he was trying to hold onto his human form. Most of the apartment showed signs here and there of his passing. The tiger that should be....isn't....

[A]shrielAshriel noticed the shuffling in her cabinets. "Did someone come while I was gone? Or is this relating to that secret you aren't telling me?" She asked the cat as the oven went off. Carefully, she put the pizza in, squealing as she accidentally touched the top of the oven. Closing it back up, she set the timer for the pizza and ran the spot that had touched the oven under cold water. I would love to know what's going on in my home.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn glanced up at Ashriel and twitched his whiskers smugly. "Maybe." He told her, his voice sounding like it was coming from right beside her. It was just his telepathic abilities though. He watched her closely, wanting to see her reaction. She'd already realized he wasn't normal but he wondered if she realized just how not-normal he was. The tiger that should be....isn't....
