"Agreed, and the humans obeyed once they did." Amaya agreed with Ayala. She ignored the otter for the moment. He was young, she did not respect his authority as much as she respected the other gods, and she knew he did not like her. Her ears moved back, hearing Zaco call down from above. She gave him an easy look and nodded in greeting.

Ayala was pleased that the panther goddess agreed with her. It was a safer situation than it would have been had she not. She lifted her head to greet the hawk god as well. "And the earth greets you, child of the sky. Come, join us. You may use my antlers as a perch if you so wish," she called. The offer was simply because she felt it better for Zaco to be nearer than a perch on a branch while they figured out what to do about the humans.

Jan stopped walking near the edge of the clearing, then looked around at her fellow gods. "it is nice to see that y'all are well" she said sweetly. "and I agree we should see what the humans are up to." she added in a serious tone.

The hawk took their greetings in good spirits and accepted the generous offer of landing a little nearer, on the antler's of the deer god. Fawn's kindness was expected and thoroughly appreciated. Zaco felt a little silly, sitting atop her head, but made sure not to be a nuisance while he was there. The hawk's keen eyes passed through every single God before settling on the one speaking.

From catching the snippets of conversation, the topic of their discussion became evident. Humans. What a headache of a subject that was. Since their vast increase in numbers, the humans had always been in the attention of the Gods and since their criminal ways against nature, their punishment had always been brought up.

"Their kind is doing what they always have. Domination, expansion, and death."
Zaco insisted. He had been watching them since his birth in the mortal world and man had only grown more violent since their awakening. "They live in ignorance of all but themselves and their desires, and whenever they find out about such a thing as the Gods of these forests - their first thought is to hunt and feast upon it."

That had been experienced long ago by their kind, an event the younger Gods would likely not be aware of. Foolishly the spirits went ahead, thinking they could live alongside man, yet the greed of the humans proved unquenchable... It was a bloodbath.
Yet, none could ever destroy them or bring them to heel. Humans grew at a pace unmatched and survived in the harshest climate, only to return to challenge ever harder whoever pushed them.

The hawk hopped down to the ground and lowered his head. He grew in size, lost his feathers and beak, gained limbs and hair - and so he stood up a man. His form was covered by a dark green robe, which the God fastened by puling on the ends of the knot tying the robe together from the middle. His brown eyes looked over each of the Gods and then at his own fleshy hands. It was odd not having talons, so hard to get used to.
"But we do have this... ability." Zaco commented. "If there is anything that humans listen to, it is a more powerful and influential person of their kind." That was why there was always one human shouting at the rest, encouraging them forth. The God would have considered them leaders, but leaders did not neglect their own or their surroundings that severely.

The man-god sighed and scratched his head, finding the long human hair a little itchy. "I can take you to a small settlement of humans nearby. We should be safe as long as we do not raise any alarm." He did it often on his ventures for knowledge and had come to learn a great deal, but he could hardly ever agree with their usual ways of life.

"You forget that some of us present were once human." Jin said rather bitterly with the disappointment he know felt for what was once his kind. "We're aware of our abilities and where the humans are, but they're not going to listen to us so easily. They have no reason to. You expect us to just walk in and have them hang on to our every word? Unless we outright state who we are, we would be strangers to them and they'd have no reason to even give us the time of day. Words are useless. We need to act; remind them that forest was here first and without it they would have nothing."

Zaco sat down on the soft ground and looked at Jin as the wolf spoke. Hm, he had neglected that fact. But them having been human ought to mean they understood better than he would their problem. He scratched his chin when Jin finished speaking.

"No, no you cannot talk to them." Zaco agreed without hesitation. Maybe he had not been very clear. "As far as visiting them goes, that's not my idea, but I'll support my fellow Gods in such a venture." He glanced at Jan who had mentioned the visit to the humans, before looking back at Jin. But just acting mindlessly would not be very helpful.
"What do you think you'll do? Gather your kin, ride out of the forest and overrun the humans?" Zaco asked, looking puzzled. That's just plain demonic. "Oh, no doubt that you'll defeat them, in time... with severe losses. But they'll be back and the circle of hatred won't break, ever. You'll run yourselves to the ground, but it's the humans that will return, like last time."

Otter thought about it as they spoke. "We challenge them. We have the right. All we have to do is win." He meant that they would make a wager. What it would be that they offered, he did not know. "Challenge them for leadership... Maybe in exchange for servitude if we loose?"

He was trying, at least one could say that. It was also a middle point between action and talking. Humans, ever the complex. Some were reasonable, but many were greedy and wanted power. Otter sighed. He hated having to do anything with the humans at all. When peace reigned, they went wild and they became the Chaos.

"Servitude?" Ayala pranced a bit, nervously. "I do not like the idea of becoming the creature of a human if we fail to restore the natural order of things," she said.

"We are gods. Not pets." Amaya hissed at the otter's suggestion. "It was our land long before the humans even knew how to speak. We're responsible for the land they are now destroying." She said. She agreed with Jin quite frankly, but she didn't want her panthers to suffer because the humans were stupid. This needed to be taken care of, but in a much different manner.

Zaco turned back into a hawk, and while listening took the moment to scratch the itchy underside of his right wing with his beak. Rather than staying on the ground, figuring he made his point with his transformation already, he flew up to Ayala's antlers. "Sorry about this Fawn. I don't mean to take advantage of your kindness. I just feel it's the safest, nearest place in this gathering." Zaco spoke as he perched on her smooth horns. Oh no doubt it would be safer up in the trees, but as she had already said, he could hear much better down here.

"I agree with... Every single one of you, as you are all correct." Zaco announced after the group shared their thoughts. The otter's idea was in the right direction, it just needed to be refined. Somehow. Obviously they would not bow down to man, even if they made such a bet and lost.

"We cannot leave our forests, we cannot simply sit idly by, but nor can we just rush in and try to remove all the humans. Neither will they listen to us, and if they did listen the only thing they want from us is the one thing we are fighting to protect - our forests and lands." He went through what he saw as the basic facts of this situation.

"Even though unrealistic, the perfect situation would be ... To have an understanding. Where we give little to the humans, and they regrow what they take. An agreement where they do not overpopulate nor seek anything greater, without giving up enough in return to make it worth our while."
Exactly as he said; unrealistic. A hawk could dream though. To even start on any negotiation they would need to have some standing in the human world, which they do not. That of course could be gained through them applying their human forms, or as animals forcing their rule like tyrants.

Frankly the situation seemed rather impossible. It would appear humanity was fated to destroy the world and all that thrives in it, even themselves. Hmm... destroy themselves... How easy could it be, to manipulate their kind, to just... Remove each other? The hawk dared not think of such dark things too far.

Otter scowled at Panther. She was such a jerk to him. Why? He shook his head and looked at Hawk. "So you sujest we go and Order the humans? Use our strength to limit them?" He thought about it some more. This was all very agrivating. He needed his clams and he needed to swim.

"Let me thing about it. Humans are too thick to listen and some of you are too stupid to think of anything but destruction of a race created by the gods before us." He waddled off to his river, knowing the cool water would help him think. He really needed someone to talk to though. A mate really.

The otters were mating off now every female accepting a male. No one wanted to be a God's mate, or at leas,t no one liked him. It was really depressing. Sliding into the water, he moved around slowly, trying to relax.

Back in the settlements of humans, sat one of the many women. She had her hair pulled up, and was busy weaving. It one of many tasks she had, but she needed to weave a new blanket for the winter. One of her friends was next to her, and the two were chatting. "Did you hear? There's a new foreigner in town.." She gossiped, as she was always one to gossip. "They said he had the deepest eyes~ Oh, what do you think Anna?" She giggled, always being the flirt too. "Another one? Well, I think he's not your type." Anna jested, laughing now. "Haha! Since when did you pay attention to my type?" She agreed laughing more. The two having fun it seemed.

Meanwhile, Chou was passing by her sister. Of course, they were too preoccupied to notice her so she paid no mind to them. It hasn't rained in a few days, my garden might... She quickly hurried along, going to the gates of the village. "To the forest again, miss?" The guard asked as she approached. "Of course, my blackberries should be ready about now." She said to him with a smile. The guard was surprised of the smile, as she rarely did so. "Right..just be careful." He told her, opening the gate. Chou nodded, going down the long path to the forest.

She went straight to her garden that she and her mother planted long ago, which grew over the years. "They're perfect." She said to herself, bending down next to the blackberries. Chou picking one and eating to test the flavor, humming after. "I should give half to the forest, like always." She said aloud as she started to tend to the other plants withing the garden.

Sighing after Otter left, Amaya looked to the other gods. He was far too young to be a god in her eyes. He was born a god, though most of the others were turned into gods when they were humans. It was hard for him to understand, when the rest of them were humans and knew what it used to be like. How people really were. "So what is our decision? Do we split apart and carry out what we think is best? Or unite and try one thing together?" She asked the remaining gods.

"...Let's watch them for now." Jin suggested rather grudgingly. He preferred action, but was level-headed enough at times to know when to act and when to back off. "We should walk among them for a while; find out just how much of a threat they pose to us and if any sort of agreement can be reached between us." he said as he looked to each of his fellow gods. "If their destruction is necessary, we can at least try to save the pure humans that still bear some respect for us in the hopes of giving their race a second chance to maintain a balance between us."

Ayala nodded slowly in agreement, trying not to jostle Zaco where he perched on her antlers. "That sounds like a sensible plan of action," she said.
