K, it's hard not to take inspiration from Pokemon, being as it is that they're the pioneering monster-RPG of their time... That said, I feel like Digimon fights should last longer than those of Pokemon, since there's more of a 1-on-1 emphasis than there is on team play like Pokemon.

So I thought to build the stats sort of like Pokemon's, more or less, possibly scaled up or down in numbers...

Bahaha, my headaches are my own doing. xD That's me overthinking stuff. You've actually helped alleviate them a bit. =w=

Let's start with an explanation of the stats I guess...

HP: is obv. Will probably be scaled way up, in the thousands rather than in the hundreds (or in the hundreds if stats are in the 1 to around 200 range, like in Pokemon)
MP: variable (undecided), could be one of 2 things:
1) used only for special attacks, similar to the card game
2) used for all attacks like in Dawn/Dusk, and there's lots of it
I sort of like the first one, mainly because of how I imagine the special attacks. Anything beyond a basic attack, IE, anything with extra power or supportive value, would cost MP, but MP would have to be used sparingly (perhaps not as sparingly as the guild's cards). Adds tactical, so I like that.
Attack: also obv. Haven't yet decided if physical attacks and ranged or elemental attacks should be separated somehow.
Defense: basically same concerns as above.
Intelligence: What separates Pokemon from Digimon, yeh. This would affect the Digimon's ability to act on its own, as well as how it responds to orders. In a video game, it would translate to AI (where you tell the Digimon what to do, but don't directly control their actions like you do to Pokemon). In a forum game, it would be dice rolls or RNG or something, where higher intelligence is higher chance of a successful attack or w/e.
Speed: Haven't really decided this yet, depends on whether it's a forum game or a programmed game really. Could be frequency of attacks and turn order, but most likely will just factor into evasion if nothing else.
Size: Another big differing factor from stuff like Pokemon. Size difference is emphasized often in Digimon, and this would be what separates guys like MetalGreymon and MetalMamemon from each other, etc. Basically, greater size typically translates into more HP and other stats, but also has an inverse relationship with dodging and accuracy (IE bigger mons would be less evasive, but also more likely to hit with physical attacks whereas small mons are more evasive, etc. etc.)

Evasion: Basically a combination of size and speed. The smaller the size and the greater the speed, the higher the evasion. Won't be broken like in Pokemon; there could be attacks to deal specifically with that and stuff.

I actually haven't played DW1, just heard about it, so I dunno how accurate or not this is LOL. I just try to make it fit the concept.

I haven't given a lot of thought to how species, element, and typing would come into it yet though I admit. Gotta give that some thought.

Obv there should be some emphasis on their typing, Vaccine/Data/Virus, though it should be such that each type has a significant, though not gamebreaking advantage over each respective weak type... Not sure there.

Species and element should be separate things. the Dawn/Dusk engine's linkage of these two was an interesting mechanic, but there should be more species types and more available elements, and the two should be able to be matched with more variation and stuff. IE, Garurumon is a Mammal/Beast Digimon of the Ice element; whereas, say, Drimogemon is same species but Earth, etc. etc.

As far as combat goes, obv there are the digging/flying/swimming abilities to consider, but how the elements would affect other elements or affect the species I'm not sure yet.

BTW, I welcome suggestions or comments on the random s**t I'm posting LOL. Though I expect it's pretty overwhelming or else just not interesting.
