"Nuh-uh! It's a threat to mutates we're talking about! Maybe I can't talk for mom, and they'd probably think me and Cali are getting mom's shkitzo-whatever," Riley said dashing to keep up with Falon as he ranted at her. "...but dad doesn't have that thing, so he'd have to know something was up! Especially when it's a threat to us! He never takes any chances like that when it comes to keeping us safe!"

"Well, what do you want from me? I don't want to be in your dad's head. I'd rather be in a peer's head than know about your dad's stuff." Falon told him with a shrug, still walking at an even pace.
Cali sighed as she watched them. She was exhausted and worried about her parents, but it seemed like Falon had Riley's attention for the moment, so she slowed her pace, looking down at her feet as she walked.

"What difference would it make?" Riley asked, still pretty convinced the previous events could have turned out better with more warning. "Besides, my dad's awesome! Why wouldn't you want to be in his head?"

"You'll understand when you're older." Falon told him, not wanting to explain that she didn't want to be in a 31 year old man's head and know all the stuff he did with his life.

((I think that made me lol more than it should have. XD ))
Riley just groaned and rolled his eyes, a little tired of hearing that phrase at this point in his life.

Roran rolled his eyes at the arguing, this wasn't going to get them anywhere. "Look, can we focus on what's important? Falon needs to focus to find more of us, so shut up, both of you." Walking next to Cali, he watched her look at her feet as she walked. "Hey," he spoke softly, "you should be more confident. Your parents are in trouble, right? Then you need to have the confidence to rescue them. I'm sure they believe in you."

((Silly Zelly))
Hearing Roran, Cali smiled to herself slightly. "I'm confident enough. Trust me. I know exactly what I'm capable of. I just don't want it to come to that again. It broke my mom's heart. I know what I'm going to have to do, I just don't want to have to kill people to do it. That's the whole reason my mom broke up the ring in the first place. So I wouldn't have to live the same life she did. Seems she could only delay it, but it's my brother I'm worried about." She muttered, looking to Riley now.

"I see. Well, he'll have to grow up fast. You both will, in fact. Though he seems more mature than you realize. He'll just have to outgrow that stubborn, little boy notion that dad is the greatest man who ever lived." Watching the kid with her as they walked, he shook his head. "How long were you exposed to the ring?"

"Yeah...just wish he didn't have to..." She muttered as she stuck her hands in her pockets. "I was born in the ring. I lived there until I was three. I don't remember too much from living down there, but I remember my mom and dad coming home beat to hell almost every night. My parents' owner tried to work my mom to death right before we got out."

Roran was quite. That sucked. He had heard about the horrors of the ring, but since he was orphaned and his powers weren't physically evident, no one ever knew, and he never had to partake. He always just assumed himself lucky. Maybe he was actually blessed.
"Hardships only make you stronger," he spoke, looking up at the sky, "and sometimes they are necessary, so don't look at the situation as a bad thing. Yes, it is an aweful experience that no one should have to go through, but perhaps your family is better off because of it, just like how you may come to realize you're better off because of the current events." Shrugging, he was simply trying to make her feel better.

"I guess...thanks..." Cali mumbled as she looked at Roran and gave him a small smile. She still wasn't so sure, thinking about her dad now and how he died. She couldn't really do anything about the situation now except deal with it and take care of Riley. She promised Adrian years ago that she would, and she wasn't about to go back on that promise.
Falon was still looking for more mutates, but she wasn't having much luck. It seemed that more were beginning to understand what was going on, and she was nervous.

((Sorry about my absence, lots of school stuff as finals approach.))
Roran sighed. I never say the right thing. Looking back at his dogs, he smiled at them, their tails wagging in response. "Look, we're not going to get anywhere out here. we need a ruckus, or we need to find a locale where they all hang out."
