Ashriel woke up suddenly. "Breakfast?Where?" She said, her words jumbled. After a second, she recognized someone...she didn't know. "Whoareyouandwhydidyouwakemeup?" Another mumbled phrase.
Jennalin nodded lightly, sighing. What if Lix insisted on coming home with Ash? Then how would they get Ash home? It wasn't like Jen could carry her.

 The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Satisfied that Raevyn's make believe aunt would be okay, Lixini turned to Jennalin. "How long is Ash going to have to stay here?" She asked, still a bit worried about her friend. The girl had an over active imagination that was sometimes more curse than gift.
The doctor chuckled as Ash woke up. "Works every time." He murmured to himself. He glanced at the chart to make sure of her name and stats. "I'm Doctor Zedd. You were brought here because you'd hit your head. I just need you to answer a few questions, just so I check things. Now, what's your name and how old are you?" He asked her professionally.  The tiger that should be....isn't....

"I dunno Lix, but you should get back to school. We're gonna need to get the notes from someone." Jennalin thought for a moment. "I'll call you when she gets home."
Ashriel looked at the doctor. "I'mAshrielandI'meighteen." She mumbled, still slurring her mouth together horribly.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Lixini dithered for a moment. "But I...." She didn't want to leave Ashriel, not without seeing her. Finally, she sighed though, knowing Jennalin was right. "Alright. You'd better call me though!" She said warningly then turned and walked out of the building. "That was close." Raevyn said with a sigh, relaxing as the girl left.
The doctor made a note on his clipboard then looked back at Ashriel. So she knew who she was. But he didn't like that slur. He was worried the fall may have damaged her brain. "Ashriel, I need you to say that again. But try and say it clearer. I need you to say it properly, without slurring it." The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel slowed her speech down, although she was tired. That was the main reason she was slurring. "I wasn't slurring." She said simply, not repeating herself.
"I will, Lix!" Jennalin called back, before looking at Raevyn. "You know, coincidences won't always explain it."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn shrugged, unconcerned. "It'll work for now. And I'll slowly "make friends" with Ashriel at school. Then it won't seem so odd." He didn't seem the least bit worried about it.
The doctor shook his head, smiling. "If there's no pause between the words, it's called slurring." He said simply. "Now, moving on. Can you tell today's date? Day of the week, day of the month, the month and the year?" He had to run through a list of questions to check Ashriel's mental capacity, making sure her mind was still functioning right. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel looked at him cautiously. "I can tell you the month and the year." She said simply, shrugging. "It's March...and it is 2011." Her eyes looked around the room.
Jennalin nodded. "Fine then."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "What about the day and the day of the month?" The doctor pressed, jotting down notes on his clipboard. He wanted to see where her mind was at. If she knew the correct date, that was a good sign. Not remembering, or giving a wrong date, were considered warning flags for neurological damage. The tiger that should be....isn't....

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... The doctor frowned slightly. "Are you sure? I need you to try an remember. It's very important." He said, settling on a stool beside the bed. "I need you to answer the questions as best you can. At least take a guess." The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel thought carefully. "I believe it is Wednesday...the day of the month is the...24th?" She guessed carefully.

Ashriel listed her address and phone number easily, looking at the doctor. She sighed lightly, wishing she could just go. Wait- who was paying for her to be here?
