@lief Might I suggest reading The Hobbit, particularly the section with Gollum. Oh so many riddles...unfortunately only like 2 of them make an inkling of sense XD.
Also, look up something like sphinx riddles or dragon riddles. Most conniving little buggers of the fantasy universe... xp

Well if you're passing the last person then that would imply that you were in last, making you the last person. Therefore you passed yourself which is in possible under the normal laws of physics.
The only other possibility is that you were lapping them but that would mean there were laps which was not implied by the question, unless otherwise stated it is assumed that you are running from point A to point B once and that's the end.

Try it.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30..
add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add 10.

Ya all good stuff, I used some of the sphinx riddles for a rp I helped with in another guild. it was part of a test that was given to the recruits. Unfortunately the guild never really got off the ground.
