Her laugh was surprisingly musical. Fid blushed under the cowl of night as he heard it, but he scowled at it. "I guess that is fine, but to enjoy it? If you claim to be different, why would you enjoy it?" He was getting aggravated. He didn't care about the details. To enjoy killing was just wrong.

Maya shrugged. "I'm doing them a favor the way I see it. They get to join their beloved Goddess, and I'm free from their hate-filled rhetoric." She told him. "I don't enjoy killing in general. Just Drow. I've never willingly killed another living being." She said, now looking at a moth that flew by. "My mother had me punished just last night because I wouldn't execute a slave." Maya said absentmindly, a small grin crossing her features as she thought about how angry her mother had been.

The half elf leaned in close to her, looking her over closely. In the moonlight he could see discoloration on her face. Grunting, he backed off a bit. "Would you stay up here if you could find shelter?" He was starting to formulate a plan, yet he would have to lay his life on the line. Risky, but...

"In a heartbeat if it were possible. But the surface world would never freely accept a Drow." Maya said, still watching the moth flutter about. "Why are you so curious about me? Most would have attempted to strike me down by now?" She asked as she finally turned to Fid.

Fid raised his chin to that in thought. "You never gave me a reason to attack. Most other drow would have their weapons ready and the wolf yesterday would have been in trouble. How long could you hold a globe of darkness?" He knew about those with his few encounters with the dark race and knew how to fight without eyes. but a technique the drow use for fighting could be used to help the drow sneak to shelter.

"Depends. Usually we never need them for more than a few seconds. A minute max." Maya told him as she thought on it now. A few seconds was usually all it took for Maya to do what she needed to do with it.

Fid nodded and began to think. He plopped down onto the ground and began making mental calculations. Finally, he looked up at her. "Would you stay If I promised shelter from the sun and the elves?"

Maya stared hard at him for several seconds, trying to find some motive in his eyes, though she couldn't find any that she could understand. "Yes...but why?...Why would you do such a thing?" She asked as she gave him a wary look.

Fid shrugged. "Never look a gift horse in the mouth." He stepped off towards their left, not even close to where the elves' settlement is. "If you hurry, we could make it there before the second shift elves wake up. I need to be back in time for role call." He winked and bounded off.

Maya looked back toward the caves for a moment. If she followed the Elf now, it would mean she was a traitor to her own people. Though as she thought on it, Maya seemed to care less and less. She rose to her feet quickly and followed after Fid in silence, seeming to have made her choice.

Fid flitted through the woods, fast and only slightly stealthy. He really didn't care enough to actually hide. If something happened, he could handle any problem. Soon they reached a deep cave. "We scouted out the local caves a while ago. We had to position a person here every night. This was my cave. No Drow raiding parties came through here. Good thing too, I'm good, but I can only handle a couple at a time."
He disappeared through the entrance to scout it out. Chuckling as he came out, he winked at her. "It is deep enough to block the sun, a great way for you to adjust, but there were faint signs of a bear. You may want to be careful. I'll scout out closer caves for you, ya know, so you get supplies faster."

Once they reached the cave, Maya stopped and looked about in silence while Fid spoke. When he was done, she turned to him, bowing her head slightly. "I am indebted to you for your kindness...it is more than I deserve. Thank you..." She murmured, not seeming to believe how much he was risking for her. It didn't make sense. Then again, not much on the surface seemed to make sense to the Drow.

The half-elf nodded. Smiling, he went to go back to his tent. He stopped before he was too far away and talked to her once more, over his shoulder. "Don't hunt. Let me do that. The elves might get suspicious if animals go missing. I'll kill the beasts and come share with you. Promise."

Maya nodded in return to Fid, before disappearing into the darkness, moving towards the back of the cave. She was tired, something that was not entirely common to her after all these years and all she wanted to do was lay down and sleep. She found a shelf about ten feet off the ground and climbed up to it, laying out and falling asleep almost the instant her eyes close.

Fid didn't look back as he rushed through the woods back to the boulder. He had to find his way to camp before the new shift started or else the others would become curious. If he had time, he would turn his head. Finding the boulder, he turned to camp and ran in its direction. Making it back on time, the annoying elf barred his way once more. Turning him away, Fidelius went to his tent to rest. In the morning he would hunt for the Drow.
