"But..." Ashriel fell asleep before she could say anything about it. She turned into his chest while she was sleeping.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn grinned as he heard her protests die off. He held her close as he carried her, letting her sleep peacefully. True to his word, just a few minutes later, he was standing in front of Ashriel's door. He just opened it, having forgotten to lock it on his way out. Closing it, this time he remembered. He carried the girl into the bedroom and set her on the bed, trying to tuck her in without waking her. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel curled into the bed after he set her down. She didn't wake back up until about dinnertime. When she was up, she attempted to stand up...almost immediately having to lean on the bed.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn read quietly to himself in the living room for awhile. As it neared supper time, he set to work cooking. He made enough for himself and Ashriel if she woke. Hearing her stirring, he called out to her. "Just stay still. I'll be right there." He soon arrived in the bedroom, using a large pan as a tray to carry two bowls of soup. "Here. Feel like eat?" He asked, holding out one of the bowls. The soup was a nutrient heavy broth that many of the were's liked to have when they were sick or injured. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel took the bowl, eating. "How much was the hospital bill?" She asked as she ate slowly, having sat back down onto the bed.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "It doesn't matter." Raevyn said firmly. "Eat your soup. it's good for you." He sat on the edge of the bed, eating his own soup. 'Look at me. I'm turning into a bloody mother.....' He thought scornfully. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"How much was the hospital bill?" Ashriel insisted. "I'll eat as soon as you tell me." She told him, frowning. Her eyes glanced down at her soup as she waited for him to answer.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn's amber eyes flashed warningly. "No. Now eat your damn soup." He refused to let Ashriel know how much it cost. After all, he figured if she didn't know how much then she couldn't pay him back. He didn't want to cut into her budget anymore than he already was. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel looked at him, frowning. "I will eat as soon as you tell me how much the hospital bill was." She insisted, looking at him.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "And I said you will eat because I'm not telling you." Raevyn replied stubbornly. He ignored Ashriel, eating his own supper. He was firm in his decision not to tell her. He wasn't going to give in on this one. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Fine, then, I won't eat." Ashriel set her soup on the bedroom table, leaning against the wall as she sat on the bed, her arms crossed.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Ashriel......" Raevyn growled her name warningly. "Eat. Your. Soup." He said each word slowly and carefully, determined not to tell her. The tiger that should be....isn't....

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "No!" Raevyn snarled. His pupils seemed to become slits. He slammed his bowl down on the small table, not caring if he slopped a little bit over the edges. He rose and stalked from the room, knowing his temper was rising. He didn't want to do something stupid and if he stayed in the room, he couldn't be sure that he wouldn't. The tiger that should be....isn't....

As Raevyn stomped out of the room, Ashriel picked her bowl up guiltily. If it made him happy, she supposed she might as well eat it. She ate quietly, looking out the window as she ate it.
