"He's going to push her past her limits....the doctors didn't want her to fight anymore..." She murmured, tears welling up in her eyes. She didn't want her mom to die like her dad had, but it seemed that that was the only option that was coming to them.

"I know...but with her reputation, I doubt she'll ever get the chance to really quit." Adrian told her as he stroked her hair. "And certainly not as long as guys like Amun keep crawling out of the woodwork."

"Dinner's ready." Falon called, making herself a plate before she took out some more empty plates and set them on the counter, taking a seat at the end of the counter while she used her powers to hold her book in front of her.
"Until someone makes her quit..." Cali murmured, getting up to go get food, sighing lightly as she walked away.

Adrian sighed as he followed Cali. He'd love to make Amaya take it easy, but it was hard convincing her not to be the protective mom she'd always been. The air hanging over the dinner table felt thick and glum as he sat down between his kids. He didn't even know where to start with Riley who'd been through far too much these past few days.

Falon could've read everyone's minds, but she didn't need to to know what was going through everyone's mind at the time. Instead she just looked to Riley, who seemed silent. "You been practicing at all since the other night?" She asked him as she put her book down, crossing her legs underneath her as she still stayed perched up on the counter.

"A little, yeah..." Riley murmured as he ate, occasionally just pushing the food around his plate. He really should've been more excited about finally getting his powers, but with his first big attempt at using them utterly beaten he thought they really weren't as great as they first seemed.

"You know, my powers sucked at first when I first got them. I could barely move a salt shaker. I had to practice a lot. And the first time I needed them to really help me, I completely flopped. Sometimes it just takes some patience and work." She told him, using her telekinesis to grab one of his doodles from across the room and holding it up in front of the table. "Why don't you show your dad?" She asked, trying to encourage the boy to try a bit and get his spirits up.

Riley just kept silently staring at his plate while his doodles began to dance around the page.
"Wow, that's great!" Adrian said with a smile, trying to get his son to do the same. "I suppose it only makes sense for a doodlebug to command art." he said ruffling Riley's hair with his free hand. It seemed to work well enough and the boy eventually started to crack a smile from all the hair ruffling.

Cali gave her brother a light smile, glad to see him try to smile as her dad praised him. It was more than she'd been able to do for him in the last few days. "Glad to see you smile..." She murmured, now finding it hard to smile herself as she thought about her mother.

"Yeah, I hear those things are hard to find these days..." Adrian sighed slightly as he went back to his meal after the brief entertainment.

"And I thought I was depressing." Falon muttered to herself, though it was loud enough for the others to probably hear anyway. "Mind if I turn on the news? Sometimes there's updates on mutates, there should be after today's little attack." She said, turning it on before she could get any response. So far all that appeared to be on the tv was a small story about the day's fight.

"So? We were there, so why would we need to watch a news story on it? Besides, the news is boring." Cue the protests of the ten year old that would rather watch cartoons.

"Mainly to make sure that's all that is on the news." Falon muttered, nodding her head to the screen.
A glass broke a second later, Cali having squeezed it in her hand until it shattered at seeing her mother on the screen.
Amaya's hair was disheveled and stained with blood, one of her eyes was bruised and there was a gash over the other eye. Her clothes were torn and stained with blood, though on screen it was unclear who it belonged to. It was a frantic clip, Amaya cackling the whole time as a group of people ran from her, though the shadows rose a moment later and put a stop to that.
Cali couldn't even hear what the reporter was saying about her mother, just to see that crazed look in Amaya's eye again and see her kill people was enough to send her over the edge, the girl grabbing her head and curling into a ball in her chair as she shook her head, whispering to herself. "She said she wouldn't do that anymore, she promised me! She promised!" She muttered through the tears, unable to watch any longer.
"Seems Seth put his plan into motion..." Falon sighed, turning off the sound, deciding Cali probably didn't need to hear the screams of the people her mother was murdering.

Adrian promptly hopped up to turn the tv right back off again. He didn't want either of them even seeing any more clips of Amaya in that state in case they showed up again. Then he went right to Cali's side. "Riley, start getting ready for bed." he told him as he hugged Cali close while Riley left the room. Hopefully Amaya was enough of a wreck on screen to be unrecognizable to the boy. "I know she promised, but at this point she's not sane enough to keep it." he told her softly as he gently stroked her hair. "I know it's hard to take in, but she's not your mom anymore...At least not while Amun's around and screwing with her head."

"She is my mom!" Cali screamed. "Even when she was high in the ring, she was still my mom! Just because he's making her do horrible things doesn't mean she isn't my mom! Just like the fact that even though Damien raped my mom and is dead, he's still technically my dad too! You're not related to me by blood and you're still my dad! The government isn't going to care what state she's in! The fact is, she's who she is and according to the mutate registry, she's dangerous! Now that she's killing normal people there's no way she can come out of it." She sobbed, still squeezing the glass further into her hand.
