"...being resolved to have the new name [Ma-re Mount] confirmed for a memorial... [they] did devise among themselves to have it performed in a solemn manner, with revels and merriment after the old English custom; [they] prepared to set up a Maypole upon the festival day of Philip and Jacob, and therefore brewed a barrel of excellent beer and provided a case of bottles to be spent, with other good cheer, for all comers of that day." (139)
I instantly started thinking of the Oktoberfest festivities I went to when I read this. xd
((P.S. I decided to make my additions into the text a different color, especially when that last "[they]" is part of the actual text, and not my insertion. So... enjoy the prettiness.))

"...they had prepared a song fitting to the time and present occasion. And upon May Day they brought the Maypole to the place appointed, with drums, guns, pistols, and other fitting instruments for that purpose..." (139-140)

"There was likewise a merry song made which (to make their revels more fashionable) was sung with a chorus, every man bearing his part, which they performed in a dance, hand in hand about the Maypole, while one of the company sang and filled out the good liquor..." (141)
Reminds me of the song and dance that I experienced at Oktoberfest.

"Drink and be merry, merry, merry boys[...] Make green garlands, bring bottles out / And fill sweet nectar freely about. Uncover thy head and fear no harm, / For here's good liquor to keep it warm." (141)

*listens to Vitamin String Quarter playing "Bohemian Rhapsody"* Very nice. I've been pretty hooked on that song lately, actually - the original Bohemian Rhapsody. Not just this string instrument version.

I'm back.
And I've decided to post using the gradient coloring, rather than just the normal black color.

*overhears her Mom* Sounds like Mom got in contact with one of my cousins (children of said Uncle) and is finding out about the accident. Apparently my Uncle got rear-ended... and had to be cut out of the car... and had a concussion. He's just about to leave the hospital.

This year has certainly been interesting that's for sure. It's had both it's good times and it's bad times. For me, the good times is getting a job... and enjoying my classes. The bad times is... one distant family member being diagnosed with ovarian cancer; another distant family member also discovering they had cancer - and is only expected to live maybe a year; and now this accident of my Uncle's. *sighs*
