"Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry."
- Bill Cosby

((LOL kind of random and I don't even know who Bill Cosby is, yet I found it to be quite funny that most of the names of my family members end in a vowel.))

~Alfred North Whitehead, Dialogues, 30 August 1941

Every time we walk along a beach some ancient urge disturbs us so that we find ourselves shedding shoes and garments or scavenging among seaweed and whitened timbers like the homesick refugees of a long war.
~Loren Eiseley

They came first for the Communists, and I didn's speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionists. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.

He who denies the existence of a truth because it sounds negative creates a vacuum that draws the darkness unto him." -unknown

"Evil forces always arise to fill a vacuum and if we find ourselves approaching such a vacuum we need to fill it with light and not darkness. The vacuums are created by injustices, economic instability, threat of war, unemployment and so on." -unknown

“No matter how dark the night, somehow the sun rises once again and all shadows are chased away” -David Mathew Click

"History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people." -Martin Luther King Jr

"If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?" -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

"Successful individuals go into the world with two thoughts, the world can be a better place and they can take part in making it so" ~Unconfirmed but I sincerely wish I knew who said this so I can say I look up to that man or woman

"A dog will die, a wife will divorce, memories of happiers days will leave in time and even your shadow flees when the darkness comes, there is no protection from the dark as you are completely and utterly alone it is the only legitimate fear." ~Myself to justify my fear of the dark while lacking any other true phobia.

The first one is the only one I live by other than the age old 'do unto others as you'd wish they'd do unto you' the other one I just like thinking about deep thoughts.

EDIT: "But why not take a chance everything's a game" -Offspring, Hit That. One of the quotes I say to myself to do something my skittish personality refuses.

"I would rather fail in a cause that will ultimately succeed than to succeed in a cause that will ultimately fail" -Unknown will edit (again) when I find the author

"never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game."
This can apply to so many situations and i really like it. It motivates me to do stuff i doubted myself on doing.

It is better to live on your feet than to die on your knees. - Emiliano Zapata

That's the only one I can think of off the top of my head. I have a list of favorites somewhere, but I can't find it. Oh, I remember another one.

The little girl saw her first troop parade and asked, "What are those?"
"Soldiers."
"What are soldiers?"
"They are for war. They fight and each tries to kill as many of the other side as they can."
The girl held still and studied. "Do you know . . . I know something."
"Yes, what is it you know?"
"Sometime they'll give a war and nobody will come." - Carl Sandburg
