The Netflix movies we got for this weekend are Angels and Demons and Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past.

We already watched Angels and Demons last night. I liked it. I've never read the book, so I don't know how it compares to the book.

The element words that were featured reminded me of something one of my friends found ((and now has as a tattoo on her ankle/lower leg)). One direction it says "Life" and then when you flip it around it says "Death."

I was able to find a picture that shows both directions of the word. So, here is what I was talking about:

Just made her own Ambigram of her nickname. blaugh

One way says the first half, "Kissa", and the other half says "Hime".

Originally the two parts were two separate nicknames. But over time I ended up combining them together. Though my friends just call me "Kissa".

For those who may wonder what my nickname means and where it came about from...
PostPosted: Sat Mar 20, 2010 7:41 pm

Hime is Japanese for "Princess". It was a nickname that my [now ex-]boyfriend used to call me by.

There was even a point where he had used it so much that when we broke up, I abandoned the nickname. However, after it had been some time since the breakup, I allowed it to come back since a couple of my friends still used it.

In High School, I took Japanese as my foreign language.

We learned how to say our names in Japanese during our first year. Some of our names ended up being a bit complicated for us first years to say... or were a bit long after the conversion. Our teacher allowed us to use nicknames, as long as they were close to our real name.

My Name in...
English: Christine
Japanese: KURISUCHIN

As a result, I randomly started looking up words... sometimes in Japanese, sometimes in other languages.

I ended up running across the word "Kissa", which is Finnish for "cat".

Luckily this was close to my real name, and was something I could write in Hiragana ((since that's what we were learning at that time)). Not to mention I'm a major cat lover.

After I finished Japanese, I ended up discovering that "Kissa" is a real word in Japanese. It means "Tea Drinking."

I love drinking tea! So once again the nickname suited me.

Then a couple more years after that, I discovered that Kissa is a real baby name.

Below are the various variations of the meaning of the name:
- ((Origin: Egyptian)) "Sister of Twins"
- ((Origin: African)) "First Born Daughter"
- ((Origin: Ugandan)) "Born After Twins"

The name suits me because I was born on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer.

If you're not familiar with your zodiac signs... Gemini is represented by the Twins. biggrin

It also suits me because I'm an only child... thus making me the first born ((obviously, lol)) and I'm female - thus a daughter.

I ended up combing the two nicknames together after awhile to create one nickname.

Kissa + Hime = Kissa-Hime

Though my friends still call me just by "Kissa". Unless I haven't responded to that or my real name, then they'll try "Hime". sweatdrop
