Brief intermission...
On American Idol's website, each contestant is asked the same set of questions. I was looking at them the other day and thought it would be cool to answer them myself. So... here we go. Some of them I might not be able to answer, seeing as I'm not a real contestant... but I'll do my best. sweatdrop
Question: What theme week would you love to have for Season 9? Answer: I would love a week where contestants have to sing music from another country. Like if such theme existed if I was a contestant, I would like to sing a J-Pop or French song. ((Shakira, Celine Dion, or Josh Groban would be perfect mentors for such theme, since they sing both in English and in other languages as well))
Question: Which theme week would be most challenging to you and why? Answer: Probably a Hip-Hop/Rap sort of theme. I don't listen to much music in that genre. If I had to do a song in such genre, I might have some trouble. Unless it had some R&B lean to it (i.e. Black Eyed Peas sort of music).
Question: If you could perform with any person or group, who would it be and why? Answer: There's so many people I would love to perform with... Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Pussycat Dolls, Brad Paisley, Mandy Moore, Jason Mraz, Katy Perry, Celtic Woman. They're great inspirations and know how to tell a story perfectly through their songs.
Question: What's been the most surprising part of the Idol experience so far? Answer: Seeing as I'm not a real contestant, I'll say what I think would be the most surprising part for me, if I was one. Hmm... probably meeting the people we have as mentors... or doing well during a theme week when I didn't expect to do so well.
Question: How do you combat stage fright? Answer: Stage fright? What's that? sweatdrop Honestly I really don't have any stage fright.
Question: What makes a great performer? Answer: Connecting not only with the song's lyrics, but also with the audience, and having great stage performance. Being someone that others can look up to as a role-model figure.
Question: How has music inspired you? Answer: Music has helped me get through hard times, almost like my own therapy session. It's also inspired me for stories/poems/songs I've written and any performing I've done.
Question: What was the first concert you attended? Answer: Some country artist that was performing at the fair near us. Most likely was Shania Twain.
Question: If you could perform in any venue in the world, where would that be and why? Answer: Not sure. Being able to travel anywhere and performing would be a great experience.
Question: Of the past 8 seasons, who's been your favorite Idol contestant thus far? Answer: Danny Gokey.
Question: Who is the person that you would most like to meet? Answer: In the music department? Hmm... Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, or Danny Gokey. Just in general? Johnny Depp, J.K. Rowling, and lately Robert Downey Jr.
Question: If you have 24 hours to do anything you wanted, what would you do? Answer: Spend time with my family and friends.
Question: Who are your musical influences? Answer: My family and friends have influenced the sort of music I listen to. I grew up listening to my Dad listening to Country music ((i.e. Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Dixie Chicks, Braid Paisley)) and Mom listened to mostly Oldies and Rock ((Billy Joel, Prince, Michael Jackson)). I listened quite a bit to 90s Pop music ((Spice Girls, N*Sync, Backstreet Boys)). My friends ended up introducing me more to Rock/R&B/Hip-Hop sort of music ((Panic! At The Disco, Plain White Ts, Black Eyed Peas)) and foreign music ((such as J-Pop)).
Question: How do you plan on differentiating yourself in the competition? Answer: Being true to myself, while adding my own twist to the music.
Question: What have you learned (about yourself) by going through the Idol audition process? Answer: How universal my favorite music is and what it represents who I am.
Question: What would people be surprised to learn about you? Answer: Probably depends on the person.
Question: If you couldn't sing, which talent would you most like to have? Answer: Being an author. A dancer. An actress. Anything involving the performing arts is good with me. 3nodding
Question: What's your proudest moment? Answer: Graduating from college with my AA in English, and continuing my education to earn my BA.
Question: What's your most embarrassing moment? Answer: I don't have any major embarrassing moments. Usually I just say things wrong or funny, unintentionally, and my parents or friends like to tease me about what I said.
Question: Do you have any rituals or things you do before you perform? Answer: Not really.
Question: What music would your friends be surprised you own? Answer: None. We all love the same genres mostly.
Question: What are your personal goals in life? Answer: Right now - Earn my BA in English, get a satisfying job/career, get my work published ((either in a magazine or as novels))
Question: What has been the most unique job/chore you've ever had? Answer: Working as a volunteer during my college's events. Got to meet a lot of people (both students and guests - some famous people), experienced a lot of cool things, and became well-known as a result.
Question: What other talents do you have? Answer: Writing. Dancing. Drawing ((especially landscapes and animals)). Being able to repeat lines from movies that I've only seen once.
Question: Do you have any formal singing training? Answer: No.
Question: When did you first start to sing? Answer: When I was pretty younger. The earliest thing I have recorded was in 1999 (10 years old)... but I'm sure I've been singing before that.
Question: Do you have a favorite quote or personal motto? Answer: "Close your eyes but keep your mind wide open" ~ from Bride to Terabithia
Question: Favorite Female Artist: Answer: Celine Dion, Celtic Woman, Lady Gaga
Question: Favorite Male Artist: Answer: Jason Mraz
