 The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn acted like he couldn't hear her. He simply sat staring out the window, lost in his thoughts like he'd always been. Whatever seemingly friendliness he'd acquired had disappeared. If Jennalin wanted to know more, she could ask Ashriel. It was better that way. Ash would go back to her own friends and to her own life. Now he couldn't mess it up any more. The day dragged on slowly, as if it was trying to make things longer.  The tiger that should be....isn't....

[ I ] { A } msick of people pointing me out as 'that genius I told you about.' [ I ] { A } mdesiring to stay under the radar for once. [ I ] { A } mnot that person who can just instantly trust people. [ I ] { A } mthat person with the guilty heart. At the end of that school day, which seemed increasingly long for Jennalin, Jennalin walked to Ash's apartment building and up the steps. She knocked on the door several times, frowning as she got no answer. Even now she could hear Ash in the kitchen, rustling something.
In truth, Ashriel was preparing to toss out the food Raevyn had bought her. Might as well, since he hadn't stuck around. She shouldn't eat something that really wasn't hers. Even if it meant just getting rid of it. [ I ] { A } m that shy person that is forced to speak. [ I ] { A } m that quietly loud person that seems to be able to be both at the same time. The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Knowing Jennalin would be heading over there, Raevyn took his time going home. 'No, not home anymore. Just Ashriel's apartment.' He had to remind himself, ignoring the twinge of sadness at the thought. It was truly amazing how fast that place had become home, and it hurt to lose it. Finally, he settled on the rooftop of a different building. This one could see Ashriel's windows, when she had the curtain's open. In his cat form, he simply lay on the rooftop, watching. His fur was fluffed up against the chilly breeze. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel went to her living room window, throwing two cans of food out of it, glaring at the outside. She wasn't about to leave, no. Nor was she about to replace any of the food she threw out. The cans landed on the pavement below with a splatter as Jennalin attempted to get Ashriel to open the door. Ash's phone rang again, Jennalin having called using her cell. Again the phone was ignored, although Ash glanced at it for a moment. [ I ] { A } m that shy person that is forced to speak. [ I ] { A } m that quietly loud person that seems to be able to be both at the same time. [ I ] { A } m not ready for this

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn looked surprised to see the cans of food. Just what was the girl doing? A small thought registered on his mind. Those were can's he'd bought. Was she throwing out perfectly good food because she didn't want his help that badly? He hadn't realized she was stubborn enough to starve herself instead of accepting help. He'd left the food there, knowing she needed it more than he did. The tiger that should be....isn't....

After those two cans had gone out the window, Ash burst into tears, falling to the ground. Jennalin continued to bang on the door, calling into the room. "C'mon Ash, let me in." She said, Ash just ignoring the door.
"Just go away. You are eventually going to leave me, anyway." Ashriel said simply through the door to Jennalin. "So just leave now, so you don't have to deal with me anymore. That's what everyone else has done." [ I ] { A } m that shy person that is forced to speak. [ I ] { A } m that quietly loud person that seems to be able to be both at the same time. The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn frowned, leaning forwards. Was she crying? Surely he was hearing wrong. What would she had to cry about? He wasn't there to mess things up. And he was sure he'd seen Jennalin coming here, so why was she crying? What was wrong? This wasn't the way it was supposed to be. She was supposed to be happy now. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Perhaps she should offer an explanation behind what she was saying. She gripped the note in her hands, taking a pen and writing in a messy scrawl.
He was wrong. Is wrong. He's not the one making me cry. He's the one that made me stop. I cried less with him around. Perhaps I should have said...but... Ash slipped the sheet with the note on it under the door, to Jennalin.
Jennalin picked up the note and read both parts, frowning. She walked outside, waving the note in the air. Raevyn had to be near. He had to be. Walking towards the side which Ash's windows were, she waited, standing there. [ I ] { A } m that shy person that is forced to speak. The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn had curled up, closing his eyes and trying to ignore the sound of Ashriel's crying. He kept his ears alert for anything new, but other than that he simply relaxed. Or tried to. 'Not my fault. I'm not going back. She deserves a better life. I don't need to make her cry anymore.' He was still trying to convince himself staying away was a good idea. The tiger that should be....isn't....

She leaned against the open window sill, just sitting there.
Jennalin was just below her, cursing. She needed Raevyn to see what Ash had written. Where could he have gone? She wasn't sure. Her eyes glanced around, trying to spot the black cat. The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn flicked an ear at the sound of Ashriel's voice. He raised his head and looked down at her. What did she mean by that? He'd thought she would be happier without him to pester her all the time. He sat, thinking about it from where he was perched on the lip of the roof. His building was the one right across the street from Ashriel's window. The tiger that should be....isn't....

To live with?" She questioned, to no one in particular. "Everyone I care about leaves. Everyone I grow close to leaves. What's the point?" Retreating from her window, she went back into her room, laying back on her bed. "I am so stupid."
Jennalin glanced up to see the faintest black dot- Raevyn. Praying he might see, she fluttered the paper about. How could she get on that rooftop? She knew he was there. And she knew he needed to see this. "Look here, idiot. You were fixing things. Not messing them up." Her voice was almost a yell, making people stare. She really didn't care. This was important. To her, at least it was. "Please, do something." She whispered, not really caring whether or not he heard that one. Hopefully, he would figure out that by leaving Ash he'd made her feel worse.
If you looked at Ash during school, you would think she was just scatterbrained. Nothing wrong at all, really. Later, after school, she was a perfectionist. If you caught her at home, well, you saw her. Not that facade that she'd been putting on for so long. Anywhere else, she seemed perfectly fine. At home, she stressed everything, she was upset over being abandoned by her parents. At home, you could see tears rolling down her face, or her upset face as she did the laundry. He'd managed to counter that. Fix that. Made that better. He fixed her, the girl who'd been shattered into a million pieces. The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... A small flash of white in the corner of his eye made Raevyn look down. Jennalin? What was she doing there? Wasn't she supposed to be with Ashriel? His confusion grew as he heard her yelling. She wasn't talking to him was she? But it was hard to deny she was looking up where he was. He rose to his paws and trotted away from the edge of the roof. He had to find out what Jen was talking about. In his human form, he slipped down the stairs of the building. He didn't even seem out of breath when he reached the bottom, despite the height. He popped out the front door, looking around for Jennalin. The tiger that should be....isn't....

She handed him the paper; her eyes trained on him. "She locked the door. Slipped that under. Wouldn't let me in." Her fingers combed through her hair as she waited for Raevyn to react. The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Won't let you in?" Raevyn asked with a frown, taking the paper. "But you're her friend......" He trailed off, glancing down at the paper. He was mildly surprised to see that it was his note. But that wasn't what caught his attention. It was the messy scrawl underneath that had his complete attention. He froze, reading it several times. Then he cursed. "Dammit! Why didn't she just tell me? I though I was making things worse. It seemed like every other thing I said, she burst into tears. I couldn't say anything right." He clenched his fists, the note crumpled in one hand. Now he felt like a complete jerk for doing this to her. "Dammit....." The tiger that should be....isn't....
