The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn lay still but for his tail curling and uncurling, letting Ashriel work. He tried not to wince as she worked but he was glad when she finished. Hearing her words, he sighed. She felt guilty, that was it, he realized. That was why she was being so stubborn. "It's not your fault." He told her soothingly. "It was bound to happen sooner or later, with that pack living in town. Once they found out I was still alive, I have no doubt they would have come after me again." He didn't tell Ashriel that he'd only fought because she was there. If he'd had a choice, he wouldn't have fought with the odds stacked against him so badly. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"I just wish that I could have at least helped a little." Ashriel answered quietly, setting to going to the kitchen. "Anything in particular that you would like to eat?" She asked him with her voice gentle and near silent. It seemed like she would feel bad, no matter what he said.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn sighed, knowing she wasn't going to accept his words. So rather than try and convince her - a pointless argument - he simply answered her question. "Something meaty, preferably." He wished he could make Ashriel see it wasn't her fault but she never listened to him. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel dug through her fridge, slitting her eyes when she saw steaks sitting in there. An expensive cut, too. "How much were these steaks?" She questioned, getting them out to make them. Honestly, she was thankful that she hadn't thrown out EVERYTHING he had bought.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Steaks?" Raevyn questioned thoughtfully. "Hmm. I don't know. I thought they looked good so I picked them up." He answered honestly. He didn't really have much else to spend his money on so he didn't exactly worry about how much the food he bought cost. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Figures. Kitty doesn't watch prices." Ashriel muttered, setting to making the steaks. It wasn't her first time making steaks, but she didn't make them often. Actually, she didn't have money to make them most times. She sighed lightly, figuring that he must have a lot more money to just spend. Her eyes looked at him before she cursed under her breath. "Darn it, the bills." As soon as she finished cooking, she slid on of the plates onto the table for him with a steak only, before rushing off to the other room to find the paperwork for paying the bills.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn limped to the table, reaching up to pull the plate down to the floor with a clatter. "I'm taller but not that tall." He called reproachfully to Ashriel. He lay on the floor, eating the steak. "Do have enough for this month?" He asked, too lazy to get up and go to her. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"I should." Ashriel told him, finding the sheet quickly. She pulled out her money from tips and added it up, sighing thankfully. "I do." Lifting up the bill sheet and the rent, she put them both in an envelope and walked out of the doorway, closing the door after her and taking the envelope to her landlord before returning to her apartment.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Alright then." Raevyn said agreeably, falling silent. He chewed on the steak, eating it quietly. By the time Ashriel returned, he was licking his paws and muzzle clean. "That was pretty good." He told her absently, not looking up from his work. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Sorry, don't have much experience with making steak. After all, I haven't been able to afford it." Ash smiled lightly, taking her own steak and eating it quietly. Very little money was left over from the rent, but it wasn't like it mattered much.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn flicked his tail in a shrug. "It was fine I said." He pawed at the plate until he could pick it up with his teeth, sliding it back onto the table. "Wanna pass me a cloth? Cause for future reference, I'm not that tall so trying to get food down makes a mess." He told her, gesturing with his muzzle to the splatters on the floor from when he'd made the plate fall. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel handed him a cloth after she finished eating, moving to wash their dishes after that. She checked the time, shrugging. No point in trying to head to school. Instead, she blundered into the bedroom, collapsing onto her bed, falling asleep almost instantly on top of the bed.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn used his paw to push the cloth around, cleaning up the splatters. When he was done, he tossed the cloth back into the sink with a flick of his head. He looked around the apartment, then limped into the bedroom. He decided to follow Ashriel's example. The sleep would do him good, giving him a chance to heal. He always had healed better in his sleep. He lay stretched out on his own half of the bed, eyes closing as he drifted off to sleep. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel woke later to the sound of her alarm clock finally going off. Wait - it was the next morning? She cursed lightly, standing up. Carefully, she dressed, combing through her hair quickly.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn groaned and buried his face in the pillow. "Do I have to get up?" He asked sleepily. "Morning is not my best time....." He dragged himself slowly from the bed, padding into the kitchen. There he looked around and sighed before flipping to his human form and made himself a bowl of cereal. He was too tired to do much else. The tiger that should be....isn't....
