"Okay." Ashriel's voice softened as she finished the distance between her and the apartment building. She climbed up the stairs only to realize that she'd left the key in her locker. She turned around abruptly, her sketchpad held against her chest as she scuttled back down the steps, feeling stupid.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn looked confused as Ashriel reached the apartment, then turned around and left. "What are you doing NOW?" He asked, sounding exasperated. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel, embarrassed now by the whole ordeal, murmured her response so that it was barely intelligible. "Ileftmykeyinmylocker." She stepped out of the building, walking down the street towards the school again.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn, trotting along at her heels, sighed. "You really need to learn to think things through." He said, shaking his head. "NOW will you let me buy you lunch? I was asking Jen to do it cause I was busy hunting at the time." The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Fine..." Ashriel answered reluctantly. He'd made a point about accepting a favor from her, so she supposed she had no excuse to say no. Even if she did, he probably had a way to combat it.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Good." Raevyn said firmly. As they passed through an alley, he glanced around then shifted to human. He stayed that way the rest of the trip back to school. As they entered the cafeteria, he pushed her forwards. "Pick something, something you like." He told her, gesturing towards the food. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel nodded, taking a small bit of food just to shut him up. "There."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn crossed his arms, tapping one foot. "A full meal please, not just what you think will shut me up." He said, knowing exactly what she was doing. "You need to eat properly." In the back of his mind he wondered when he started caring this much about her. What did it matter to him if she had a big or small lunch? Why was he being so determined about this? The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel turned around and got her normal portion size then, biting her lip carefully. The guilt was stirring quietly in her stomach. Didn't everyone else get this horrible, guilty feeling? She had thought they did. Or was it just plain worse for her? Perhaps. "Better?" Her voice was more questioning now as she looked at him. Realizing that he really shouldn't care that much, she bit her lip harder. What would he answer if she did ask him that one question?

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... "Yes." Raevyn said with a smile, leading her to the cashier. He paid for her food quickly and lead her to the table. He plopped down in a seat, using his foot to push out a chair for Ashriel. "I'll be happier once you eat it all though." The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel sat down quietly, beginning to eat. As she did, there came the crowd, with the questions. The rumors...well, the gossip hadn't died down yet. At all. Ash looked down at her food, keeping her mouth full so that she couldn't talk. She couldn't ask him the question with all of them here, anyway.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn crossed his arms, leaning back in the chair. He stared at the ceiling, pretending he couldn't hear all the questions. Sometimes, the way he acted at school, made it seem like he was deaf. For now though, he simply stared at the ceiling and pretended the world didn't exist. Mentally he was counting down until the bell rang again. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Jennalin spotted the chaotic bunch and could only guess what was going on. She stood up and approached the table, the group about Ashriel quickly scattering. She nodded to Lixini, and she moved to the table next to them, just out of ear shot.
Ashriel sighed as the group left. "Thanks Jen..." She muttered before looking at Raevyn again, finally gathering her courage to ask him. Her voice was quiet still, but she formed the question with her lips. "Would you...would you still be willing to go out with me if it weren't for the cover up with Lix?" Finally, it was out. She'd said it.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Raevyn had been tilting his chair back, trying to ignore the squabbling around him. At Ashriel's question though, he lost his balance, almost falling before the chair fell back to all four legs. "Eh? What brought this on suddenly?" He asked, not realizing that she'd been thinking about it for awhile now. He wasn't honestly sure how to answer right now. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Ashriel blushed at his reaction. "It is actually...what I've been distracted by and thinking about the last few days..." She said quietly in response. "So it isn't sudden...exactly...
