Rough as the thoughts come
Unbridled emotion on a page
I shudder like a guitar strum
At the image my words engage
Censorship dictates that I must decline
To express things that weigh on my heart
As the obese American chats and reclines
And the apathetic shrink picks him apart
Small children with their mouths' covered
In fear of offending ol' "Uncle Sam"
Grow into adults with originality smothered
Jaws shut tighter than your average clam
My own hand is left to speak out
Against our tight-lipped society
As my eyebrows knit in angry doubt
Of our "well-meaning" democracy

Hehe thanks. It originally started as a love poem, but morphed into this. Go figure.

Short, sweet, and to the point.
Well done.
