I'm pretty sure this has already been said, but I'm not about to go through 44 posts to find out @_@
No, anime/manga in general is not against God. ANIME/MANGA are just terms to describe things.
Anime = Short for "animation" and pertains to a Japanese film, but COULD also be used for any other animated thing (like Sesame Street or Xiaolin Showdown) but no one really uses it like that. Japanimation is the same thing.
Manga = Directly translates into "comic". Next time someone says that manga is against God, ask them if X-Men or Spiderman/whatever is against God as well, because it's the same sort of thing.
Geez, people.

(Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to say something.)
Just like anything else that is such a broad category, there are some anime/manga you should stay away from (and may even be against God, but it's just like American shows/comics, it has nothing to do with Japan.) because of porn/violence/whatever your standards are. Japan is a wonderful country, and so is America, and even though the style of comicking is different it's pretty much the same thing (only manga is black and white and there's more in it...)

The people in your school aren't being open-minded enough. I guess they only really see it for some of the content, yaoi, or one of the more mature manga and anime.
But that's only SOME. The stuff they think about it is not in general.
Like me, for example, even though I'm not into the more mature stuff, I still like anime and manga.
What they don't see is the imagination and skill the Japanese pour into this stuff.

I don't think religion as anything to do with anime. Well, sure some shows and manga may involve some religion, but they are not trying to influence anyone. They are merely telling a story.
And as far as those people who are bugging you and saying "Oh, anime is bad! Blah blah blah!" here's a little something you could say to yourself ... or them ... (I dunno, I haven't tried saying it out loud yet, but it's just something to think about ...)
"It could be worse. I could be seriously addicted to alcohol or drugs, I could be in jail, I could be a phsychotic murderer sittting in jail, I could be sitting in jail waiting for the electric chair, I could be an animal-abuser, I could be a cold-hearted animal-abuser working in a slaughterhouse, I could be an unemployed bum living on the streets, I could be selling or publishing porn stuff, I could be living in poverty starving to death; I could be living in a world where babies are being born to the sound of gunshots and explosions, and here you are saying anime is bad?"
