besides actually being a negative term, it is used to describe your average anime obssesing person. but manga..about otaku?

Two examples of such an odd perspective is in the manga series Genshiken and Drama con. One taking place in Japan and the other in America. One more adult and the other a bit more user friendly. Both depicting the common otaku very well and giving the name a positive light.

Both very good comics if I do say so myself. What do you think about this odd choice of storyline?

All I can say is that I haven't watched the Genshiken anime... I don't think there's an anime for Drama con... closest to that I've seen is Comic Party, but that's not really about being an Otaku...

I can't comment on the mangas for any of these, though. I primarily watch anime, and it's much too time consuming to start other obsessions...

I like Drama Con. I haven't read Genshiken, so I guess I can't compare them either.

It should be in Barns & Noble, or other book stores.
