My favorite anime is a strange (and possibly unpopular) series called Brigadoon. Of all the anime I've ever watched, that one series has been the most satisfying anime I have ever watched.

Death Note has been pretty incredible, though.

Edit: I would suggest not reading the Wikipedia entry on Brigadoon since whoever is maintaining that page spoils as much about the series as they can.
