Sure I believe in imaginary friends. They are just something someone creates to give themselves the perfect friend.. right? I think so.

Few people believe in them when they are older because they have made real friends and they don't need an imaginary friend anymore. But little kids believe in them!

I hope I understood this correctly..

Imaginary friend, its basically a being you create with the use of your imagination. Your doll is a doll, but lets say you think she's alive, you talk to her, she talks about. you imagine she does that so its an imaginary friend. Well I still have lots of imagination but now I use it to torment myself. Imaginary friends are a good thing.

An imaginary friend is the ideal friend for someone (mostly small children), as they have everything that someone wants in their friend. They don't fight, they always are happy to take their turn at things, they don't say mean things or back-stab. Sometimes they are entirely imaginary, and sometimes they are a doll or soft-toy with an imagined personality. My mum told me the story that when I was about 2, I decided for a few weeks that I was Mary and my doll was baby Jesus (sounds a bit lame now I know redface ), but presumably this was a kind of imaginary companionship. My older brother had an entirely imaginary friend called Melbourne for quite some time.

Most people learn as they get older to make friends with real people even if they aren't as dependable or ideal though. Still, sometimes it can be nice to have this kind of friend as well.

This is entirely true, with the addition that imaginary friends are whatever you want them to be. They can be dolls with personalities, the perfect friend, a rockstar, a boy friend, a flying dragon, anything. They just have to come from your imagination.

Well, I believe in imaginary friends. I think that they are a person true ideal friend. A person or whatever the imaginary friend is to help the person out and for companionship. I used to have imaginary friends, but later on just started using a journal for things like that. But that's what I think.

Well, with some little kids, they don't have much human interaction with people or, just plain human beings in real life. Which would be why most would turn to creating of friend of their own in their minds. So they won't be lonely, or for other various reason I cannot type about as of this moment.

lol wow, this topic... Yeah...
Um, I'm fifteen (Almost sixteen) and I have an imaginary friend
No, I'm not mentally challenged, dyslexic, nor do I have few friends
But I can probably tell you all a lot about imaginary friends and why they're created

I never had one as a child, or not one I can remember
I didn't get an imaginary friend until I was eleven or twelve
His name is Raikei by the way

I don't know why I made him, but I'm glad I did
In my opinion, an imaginary friend is just a prefect friend
You can tell them everything and they always understand
Though since I'm older than children, Raikei wasn't made like that
No, he bitches about anything.. But he does understand me
He's my best friend because he always knows how to cheer me up

And yeah, I do have real friends
I have great friends who I would give my life to save
But none of them get me quite as well as Raikei does

With Raikei, I'm able to pour my heart out
Though I know my friends will always be there for me
Thanks to a big move, I don't get to talk to them much anymore
So Raikei's the only person I can rant to
I also write on livejournal
But all that is just a repeat of what's been said to Raikei
And much shorter due to my laziness when it comes to typing

So yes, I believe in imaginary friends
If you don't it's because you probably have little imagination
Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there
It's kinda like ghosts
But as long as they're real to the person who created it
Then its real

And often you'll notice little kids being fond of one specific toy or doll for long period of time
They probably talk to it and take it everywhere
Chances are the toy is the kid's imaginary friend
And I like what Squirty_Chan said, about how they're ideal and tend to be happy with what they get and never get mad
((Though Raikei does sometimes, but he doesn't back-stab and his mean things are playful))
That was very well said Squirty_Chan

And in case your wondering, I do have an over-active imagination
That's why I write stories; to release some of the imagination
Though there's still enough for Raikei

Until I was ten years old I created a lot of imaginary friends. They were mostly bound on some stuffed animal. I had three dogs, one monkey, five cats, a crocodile, two or three rabbits, a bear and several others. They all owned a personality, from very human to animalistic.

I didn't have a lot of real friends during that time and my family wasn't the best environment to raise a child. I projected all my wishes, hopes and dreams on them. My animals were not affected by my real family. And they helped me to forget about the reality from time to time. I always took at least one or two with them as I visited my mother during weekends, because they were a solid piece of my life in that time. The "home" has changed, but not my "friends".

well it is simple to say that people have imaginary friends is that how their mental stage works ....it doesnt mean ur mentally ill or something its how u feel about what ur doing , ppl could also have this weird imaginations for their state or level in life like a person who is a total or something not normal and doesnt have friends ,thus this is the state weird imaginations happen..... remember it doesnt mean ur abnormal , i mean its normal...

Happy to answer ur questions everyone! 3nodding

My best friend and i created an imaginary friend the day we met in 4th grade.
He's still our imaginary friend. >.>
Venting on him is better than venting on real people. It's how i release stress. By talking to him. ^^
I lot of people have imaginary friends for different reasons.

Imaginary friends are either the perfect friend for you, or how you wish you could be. When I was little, I had imaginary friends. I would talk to them (really just talking to myself), and I believed they were there. They were there for me, no matter what, because they were loyal to me. I usually thought up new friends when I was lonely.
Now, I've found myself to make people up when I'm scared, placing all my fear in them, blaming them for evertything wrong with me..
But I guess it's different for all.. I know it's hard for someone who never had an imaginary friend to understand them, but that's just the way some people get rid of loneliness, or boredom..

By my age, everyone has gotten over the "Imaginary Friend" Stage, so I don't usually talk about it. But I do. And he does every thing with me. I carry him around on my shoulder, but he hides behind a piece of paper when he can. I write to him about every thing and he gets why I absolutely hate my BFF.

"Imaginary friends" Are the way I've always explained things to myself. When I get frustrated, he crawls in my ear and he explains to me why the people act the way they do. And when I need to vent, there he is, hiding behind a piece of paper waiting for me to talk to him. Blamy [my friend] is just a little purple human that does everything with me and understands everthing about me and my friends and every thing he doesn't know, he guesses.

Disclaimer: I do not have any mental, physical, or emotional problems. Okay, maybe I do have emotional ones. But Blamy is the reason I'm still sane. I have more people dumping all their problems on me then you can imagine. Thus, I created Blamy to help me. He helps me, because no one else can because I need to keep people's secrets and Blamy won't tell a soul.

......I still have my imaginary friend with me... sweatdrop

I'm my case, it's mostly because I don't hang out with people, let alone going outside my house on a daily basis on a non-school day. And because of the too many failed friendships I experienced in my short lifetime and my extreme shy nature, I just wanted someone to hang out with who has the very same interests as me. And here I am today, still being IBFFs with my pal. rolleyes
