Along the Creek

"'Lo thar, chap! Come to catch ya a biggun? I gots me one right har, seeeeee?"
He displays his foot-long catch and a few minnows.



Fisher Joe, an over-enthusiastic freshwater fisherman in the region.

The creek continues to bubble its way along. The banks here seem reasonably dry, and you could sit and join Joe for some fishing, if you'd like. Seems he's got plenty o' extra bait and tackles, and a rod too.

Stormy saw a man sitting at a hole in the ice, fishing. "Hello there. I could sing something for you." She smiles and sings a small carol. "Oh well, I have some more people to sing to, so goodbye." She smiles and waves before walking to her next destination.

Eventually whistling broke the silence, and the two travelers looked up in excitement for having stumbled across another living being. For a long few moments the whistling, which changed tunes several times as Fairlee moved towards it, seemed rather ghostly, as if coming from the mist and frost that surrounded them. But eventually the man sitting huddled over the hole in the ice came into view, and the blue girl made straight for him.

"Someone fishing out in this cold..?' Lucifer murmured.

"Hello there!" Fairlee called out. "Having any luck?"

"Hmm..? the man looked up, squinted at them, then chuckled. "Nope. Though this right here is a prime fishin' hole... it won't be long and I'll be hookin' me a whopper! Don't let the cold fool ya'; I know the biggun's swimming around under there somewhere!"

"Oooh..." Fairlee said, her eyes wide with wonder as she looked down at the ice as if expecting to see giant fish through the frigid glass. "Good luck with that..."

"Haha, much obliged! So whatcha two doin' out here, hmm? Come ta' fish?"

"Nope... it's freezing." Lucifer replied as he pulled silver strands over his body, thoroughly mussing Fairlee's hair.

"Ah see. Well then, if you're not up fer fishin'... that means ya must be... carolers!" the man said with a toothy smile.

"Hey, that's right! Kinda..." Fairlee exclaimed with a clap of her hands.

"Some guess..." Lucifer added with a major sweat drop.

"Ah knew it!" the fisherman chortled, slapping his probably frozen knee. "Well den... how about a song, hmm? Might get the fish ta' bitin'!"

"I'll be happy to try!" Fairlee said with a smile and a nod, rubbing her fingers to keep off the cold as she started to sing. Out in the elements and the faintly falling snow, the glowing of her eyes and of the dragon huddling on her head was almost invisible.

"Ahhh... Ah recognize dat song! Great, great... ah!" the man let out a triumphant squawk as something tugged on his fishing line. "Haha, it worked!"

"And we didn't come out that bad either... our average's up to 63 since we just managed to catch 11 wishes."

"Good... but I guess we should move on. He looks too busy with the 'whopper', or perhaps the 'biggun'." Fairlee giggled into her hand as she tiptoed away.

Oh My Gawd! Becca had found the mumbling man! "Now...To sing him a song..." she said, as she began to sing "Santa Claus is comin' to town". She waved, and ran back to the Creek Bridge.
