I close my eyes, and there you are A cheery picture, Smiling so bright Eyes so full of light Nothing could take the fight from you to win that night... Opening them, I see you there, In the wind and leaves, I hear you whisper "My love, Hush, no need to fear, free of This world we will be, above." I sleep, and I dream of you, Your arms wrap around me tight, Oh, please! Keep me warm, Hold me against your solid form, Keep me safe from dangers that swarm! I wake, and I fear for you, That you may not be there, Like you always said, Never to sleep, head to head, Never to promise, or to wed... I think, and all I think of is you, My one, my only, They've trapped us apart, They're tearing me apart, Piece together my broken heart? Once again I look, Once again I close, Once again I dream, Once again I think, I'm spiraling down, whirl of dispair, And as I stare, I hear out there, and up the stair, And what I hear, I swear, my heart is scared, This, I cannot bare....

My eyes ache, My heart is tired, I can't be awake I have but one desire... On one thing it will all depend. This time there is too much strife. When will this end? This nightmare of my life? Oh! tell me please If not soon, I fear I shall freeze.

i've accepted what's to come, doesn't mean i'm pleased, but we need to stop running from this world, so diseased... but i will smile, and I will be kind, knowing, through everything, you will be mine. you won't know until your back, this mask will cover, there will be no crack, you'll never know, my Love... so i will smile, and i will be kind, knowing, through everything, You will be mine. never alone, i Know This by now, yet the future is unknown... don't leave me asking "how?" but i will smile, and i will be kind, knowing, through everything, you will be mine... these fears, my worries, have no cause, i am aware... so i will smile, and i will be kind, knowing, through everything, you will be mine. I Could Never Leave never turn away please believe, Without You, My Sky Is Gray...

As darkness falls, it brings with it .....my heart .........my hopes ......my dreams ........................my sanity. As darkness falls, my world turns ....quiet .........slowly .......spinning ........................out of control. As darkness falls, someone takes ....my place .........my smile .......my face ........................they are happy. As darkness falls, I close my ....eyes to the faces .........mind to the memories .......ears to the noise ........................but it doesn't stop. As darkness falls, I remember ....his face .........his smile .......his laugh ........................but it doesn't come back. As darkness falls, it brings with it ....my heart .........my hopes .......my dreams ........................my sanity. As darkness falls, it brings with it ....my heart .........my hopes .......my dreams ........................my sanity.

I am alone. I sit by myself .....In an empty room ..........Full of nothing ...............But objects. I am alone. I listen to myself .....Thinking ..........About nothing ...............Of importance. I am alone. My heart beats .....Slowly, ..........Rhythmically, ...............With a steady tempo. I am alone. I hear a voice .....That is not my own ..........And it responds to my ...............Every thought. I am alone. I feel a hand .....Touching, ..........Holding, ...............Caressing my skin. I am alone. But there is someone .....Here ..........With ...............Me. I am alone. But only physically, .....Because our love, ..........No matter the distance, ...............Cannot be taken apart.

I'm not the girl you once knew, I'm not the girl you wanted to see, I didn't give you what was due, You have to realize, I'm not me.
You had no clue- You saw my smile- That I was not true, I can't pass this trial.
I cannot believe It could fool, This story I weave, That even you.
I'm not the girl you once knew, I didn't give you what was due.
The one thing you asked, I could not give, Though I knew this our last, I hope you will forgive.
I wasn't who you wanted to see, Just understand, I'm not me...

If you're black, Asian, Middle-Eastern If you're young, old, or hard of hearin' If you're overweight or diseased, If you're poor, crazy, or ever been displeased, Listen to what I'm sayin'. Here I preach no religion, Not givin' you an eduction, Not gonna try and change your mind, Make you leave your world behind. I ask for this and only this, And as you sit there silently I beg you for equality. This is for the ones, The fathers and the sons, Who never got the say, Who, day after day, look around, Wishing they were a bit more brown. There are quotas we have to meet, To fill the flooding streets, With the "right" number of us. We can get on a bus, And sit where we like, But only if there's a black per white. Segregation and separation. Outlawed and yet still in play, Just, in a different way. They tell us we'll get better soon, But it's still the same ole' tune. As I apply to college, Is it really about the knowledge? They search and search, For those of a different church And those select few, Who's skin is another hue. They need those who Do not look like me and you. Who's lives are worse than ours Those that have "no power." But here is where it gets interesting, And I'm sorry if this stings, But by appreciating you, those of a different hue, You've forgotten me, In my time of need. February, Women and African History remembrance, We learn about the entrance, Of the 'disadvantaged', But this is all so mismanaged. So here I ask the crowd, Is this what makes you proud? I'd like to take a seat But as I look over the crowded street, I can't help but stop and think Of why these thoughts make people shrink? Are these thoughts really that bad? Anger over something you've never had, And yet I can't be upset, When I'm the one you forget? Why is it so regulated To make it "unsegregated?" By remembering a special you, They've once again created a Better Few, Only this time it's not me, it's you.

Drum beating Skin heating Sweat dripping Mind flipping...
Just a kiss One like this Add a little twist Yes, just a kiss
Skin on skin Fabric so thin Give a gentle grin Indulge in the sin.

A story in the arena, instead of a poem, for once!
