The light dimmed as the candle wax melted away...
Once upon a time, there existed an ominous castle painted with pride and scorn. None lived within but a man with a beautiful face and hideous soul. This man ruled the frosty lands that his extravagant home loomed over with an iron fist, seeing his subjects as nothing more than tools or toys to use and abuse. His people, desperate and poor, pleaded with a local witch to end their suffering. The witch agreed, but only after she'd had a chance to meet this tyrant herself. She disguised herself as an old, haggard traveller seeking succor from the blizzards that raged about, only intending on asking for a simple night's shelter before she would try to make her way to the village nearby. Instead of offering her kindness, he laughed at the woman's misfortune and slammed the castle doors in her face. In return for such rudeness, for such a lack of hospitality, the witch cursed the selfish man to take on the outer beauty to match the beauty within. The vain, egotistical monarch transformed into a ferocious beast, forced to forever live ugly and alone until he could change and atone for his selfishness. For several hundred years he lived alone, never having changed in the least since the day his curse began.
Eventually, on a stormy night much like the one in which he was cursed, a dainty maiden dressed in ripped-up rags approached the castle doors, crying and begging for succor from the harsh wind and frost. For reasons unknown, he allowed her to come in and stay, but only if she made herself useful by helping to keep the place clean. As he made this offer he kept himself hidden in the shadows, refusing to let the maiden see his beastly appearance, lest he wound his pride by letting any such woman know of his now hideous features. Such an incident was unavoidable, however, and she caught glimpse of him just before she was to return to the village. Taken by surprise, and perhaps more than a little curious as to how her savior came to be so ashamed of his unique appearance, blackmailed him into letting her stay for awhile longer with the same conditions as before - else she might speak to the village of what she saw within the castle walls. Days passed by, as did months and even years. The bold maiden and the prideful beast gradually grew closer, learning more about one another than any other dared dream. Eventually, they even grew to love one another. Of course, no relationship is ever perfect. Just before they could confess to one another, they had a vicious arguement, which lead to the maiden running off in the middle of a snow storm. As far as the Beast knew, the Maiden hated and abandoned him. As far as the Maiden knew, the Beast hated her and she died alone in the blizzard that day.
Over two hundred years later, once again on a terribly snowy night, two childhood friends found themselves lost in the forest. They got sepparated, one coming across the castle in which the bitter beast resided and the other stumbling into the lonely beauty's haunt. After the Beauty and Beast save the two, the villagers gradually grow close to their saviors - learning more of the tragedy that had come to pass and realising the strong feelings they'd come to hold for the other lost villager. Will the Beauty and Beast finally have a happy ending, or at the very least recieve closure? Will the two young village folk confess their feelings and learn from the mistakes of Beauty and Beast, thus earning their happy endings? Or will misery prevail, and all be alone in the end?
...the dying embers no longer able to illuminate the empty void within.

Take the time to rekindle the fire...
1. First come, first serve. PM me if you wish to make a reservation, but since this is a 2x2, I will only keep a role reserved for 24 hours at most.
Beauty: Luminette Primrose//Animeprincess_9400 Beast: Unclaimed Haunted Villager: Zilaius Rustell//Ayame-Yuura Castle Guest: Adriane Hawkner//Tamwynne the elven
2. Follow Gaia's ToS, obviously. There doesn't need to be a rant on cybering or god-modding, since we all know better. Especially if you're joining a two on two of mine.
3. Comedy is acceptable every now and again. However, this is intended to be a SERIOUS ROLEPLAY. Any overy obvious bad anime behaviors or excessive one-liners only warrant one warning before being banned.
4. Use anime pictures for your character's appearance. The only exception to this would be the Beast, unless the one playing him can somehow find a pic that works. Profiles should be PM'ed to Animeprincess_9400. Entitle your PM with the title of this roleplay.
5. Have fun and please try to remain active!
...for those that do shall see what transpires.

Love shall be lAppearance:
Themesong: White Flag - Dido
Username: Zelly-fangirl Name: Lucien Crescend Gender: Male Role: Beast Short Bio: Lucien is the prideful beast from the story. He was a cold and heartless man that only cared for his wealth and power. The people he watched in the village below hated him, but he didn't care. It was when the old hag came to his door that fateful frozen night that his life changed. She was no hag, but a witch who cursed him to take on his current monstrous form in return for his selfish behavior. Now the inside matched the out. He hid from the world for ages until that young girl came into his life. Before he knew it he found himself caring for her, more than any other material item of his. But then they had that argument. His temper got the better of him and she ran off, never to be seen again. She hated him. That was surely why she left. All this time he still believes that to be the truth and is thoroughly convinced that no one could ever love him. Appearance:
Themesong: Optional.
Username: Ayame-Yuura Name: Zilaius Rustell Gender: male Role: Haunted Villager Short Bio: Zil ia a quirky peasant carpenter's assistant with a very loud, outspoken yet pleasant personality. It is often said that he bursts of life as though he were the very beam of the sun but this is actually only a cover for the darkness in his heart, brought forth by his deep resentment, bitterness and anguish at the very thought of simple village life. In truth, within him lives a man of adventure, curiosity and out-of-the-box intellect, or rather... cunning. Several opportunities to escape this wretched, boring life were offered to him since his childhood although his parents would always refuse and drag him back. Comedians, merchants and even noblemen offered him jobs. The vehement outcries he had as a child at his family's prohibition diminished into bouts of bitter sarcasm as he grew up with that joker's smile plastered to his face. The problem that hindered him always was his father and brothers, all of whom he had envisioned strangling, stabbing, maiming, blinding and used as experiments for machines. He reveled in these visions of death and slowly grew to take a liking to them to a point that the death machines he envisions, he builds to the precise details in his dreams. These though, he hides and keeps secret from everyone - even his best friend [the castle guest] whom he tells everything to. Appearance:
Themesong: Sharpest Lives - My Chemical Romance
Username:Tamwynne the elven Name:Adriane Hawkner Gender:female Role:Castle Guest Short Bio: Adriane was walking with her friend in the woods to get away from a bad situation at home. Her parents were fighting, and her older brother was getting in on it too. She often went to her friend for help and guidance . She's very smart and knows the local legend. When they were separated, Adriane just wondered until she found the old abandoned castle. Appearance: Themesong: What You Own-Rent
...nothing is won without blood, tears, and pain.

As the crescent moon loomed over the lands alongside the stars dancing so intimately across the black void that was the midnight sky, the tall coniferous trees bowed and swayed to the will of the demanding winter winds. The frost and snow summoned forth by the raging blizzard swirled about, entangling itself in every tree it came across, in every rocky crevice and coating every dying blade of grass. In the middle of it all, nearly untouched, lay the ominous castle of an unsightly beast. Miles away, in a tortured trove of white, a beauty as pale as the snow surrounding her gazed up at the terrible place with a look almost reminiscent to a sort of longing, of desire.

Meanwhile, in the tallest tower of that great castle, the old beast looked down at the frozen landscape. His six wings wrapped around him with a great cloak draped around him on top of that in some vein attempt at hiding his monstrous form the world. These frozen nights dredged up a sea of memories that would be better off forgotten. But time had stopped for him a long time ago and those memories were all the beast had now. How many seasons had passed since his bitter tongue chased that kind girl into the frozen arms of the blizzard, he did not know.

Adriane looked around at the canopy of the forest as night fell. She pulled her thin jacket around her body, her firey hair to contain heat. If only I can find that blasted castle! she thought. The legend says it should be here somewhere! She shivered as the wind blew snow into her eyes. Dammit! Where did Zil go! She looked up at the black sky again. That's when she spotted it. A fuzzy tower in the distant horizon. She smiled a frozen smile and started to walk in that direction.

"Ugh." Zil grunted, his hand beginning to twitch as his rarely scrounged eyebrows knit together. The young carpenter's assistant was beginning to stir from the clumsy fall into that crevice led on by a beautiful, velvety and almost melodic voice. It was actually much much better than having wandered around aimlessly in search for Adriane and risk getting lost in the dark or encounter some ferocious beast. In that crevice, he found shelter for the night and hadn't even realized it. He sat up now, holding his hand to his head and beginning to open his eyes. A hazy vision of stone and a white figure staring into the distance was what greeted him as his dark eyes began to make out where he was. "Hello there... Sexy lady." He said with a half smile. He liked to joke around often and what better way to introduce himself to his savior? It should seriously spice up a conversation as Zil often liked to do.

Luminette nearly jumped in place upon hearing the male adress her presence, especially in such a flirtatious manner. Her translucent cheeks seemed to flame up to a bright pink, her eyes wide like a deer in headlights and her shock most apparent upon closer inspection of her dainty features. After a moment of pure silence, she hesitantly began to approach the man, intending on verifying his health and perhaps mental stability with conversation. One would have to be incredibly mad, stupid, or unfortunate to be out in weather like this, after all. Without even commenting on his unusual greeting, yet, the ghostly female asked in a rather stern tone, "What is someone like you doing all the way out here?! These snowstorms aren't something to be taken lightly!"

Lucien squinted through the howling blizzard at the snow covered land below. It was hard to make out, but he could just barely see a small black speck moving towards his castle. He scowled and turned away from the window. As much as he preferred otherwise, it seemed he'd have a guest soon. He could only wonder if this one would turn out like the last.

((Hey guys, I hope you don't mind, but I'm changing my color to avoid confusion.)) It took Adriane a good hour and a half before she made it to the castle. As she stumbled to the stairs of the door, she looked up. The dark castle gave her shivers down her spine, and made her think twice about entering. She shook her head. Its the best chance I've got....I just hope that Zil got somewhere ok...She then reached up and lifted the heavy knocker three times, hoping to get an answer.

((Hee. Sorry. I tend to choose text color based on whatever's most prominent in my char's pic, and I didn't realize you were already using dark green. ^^;; ))
Adriane's hand had barely left the knocker when the door opened a crack. From beneath the cloaked bundle that the beast was, only a single piercing yellow eye could be seen, the other hidden behind the door. "What is it?" his gruff voice demanded coldly. No living soul should be out in such weather, though he knew he'd inevitably let the girl in. She shouldn't be here, but he wasn't cruel enough to sentence them to an inevitably frozen death. Just like his previous guest from all those years ago....

((Its ok. No harm done.)) Adriane jumped when the door opened. She bowed her head a little. "I'm sorry to bother you on a night like this...But I was wondering if I could stay here for a little bit. The weather outside is horrible, and I was separated from my friend. We didn't know the storm was coming..." She ran a hand through her hair nervously. "Anyway, it would be only for the night, and I would be gone right away in the morning cause I have to look for him. I'm really sorry about waking you up so late..." She then stopped talking, realizing that she was babbling. She wrapped her coat closer to her and looked up. She was shocked when she saw the yellow eye, and tried not to show it on her face.
