Darkness Before Dawn
(Introduction)
Year 2020 - while technology has not changed dramatically, powers emerging from gene mutations or freak accidents have made several humans "super human". And while some powerful beings use their power for good, many seek to exploit it for their own selfish ends. Many have taken up capes, cowls, masks and other disguises. The fight between good and evil blazes on!
In the city of Verone, vile and unscrupulous things tend to happen as the fight between superheroes and super villains ensued. It was all good until the wars between the factions escalated and eventually came to a dramatic conclusion. It would have been great if justice finally won out in the end - But this was not the case. The super villains won and began a tyrannical reign over the city of Verone. What was left of the superheroes have scattered and vanished off the maps (since they were being hunted down). With no one left to defend the city, the super villains had nothing left but to quarrel among themselves. They broke into two factions, each wanting full control on the city: Animus and Barbus. Little do they know that what was left of the heroes are gathering once again to take back Verone City in the name of good.

super beings and other extraordinary humans that are yet to decide on which side they want to belong to: Good or evil? Some are simply chaotic, doing whatever they like regardless of whether it is good or evil.
Citizens
the hapless normal citizens of Verone that just happen to get caught up in this whole shinaniganz. Whether they assist the heroes or the villains is entirely their choice.

Bio: Asura lost his arms as a child, having them broken by a group of sick children in his neighborhood. Yet he continued being a kind and loving person, making friends with another kid who had the ability to create reflecting mirrors that couldnt be seen as shields. At a young age, another group of kids in a gang attacked them. Asura then realized his power when two new arms grew and pushed one of the thugs away. Outnumbered, the kids were beaten horribly by the gang, and as one of them drew a gun, the friend attempted to shield him by turning his entire body into a mirror. But they were too young and had too little power. As the bullet pierced his body, so did Asura's hands, trying to push him out of the way. The result made Asura black out, and as he awoke, he saw his dead friend, and attempted to grab the body, but noticed the countless arms that moved, instead of his own two. The friends power further mutated his own DNA. In that moment, losing all kindness and faith in humanity, Asura became a killer, snapping every bone left in the monster's bodies. Nothing left to lose, so much more to gain.

Bio: Once a mild-mannered and caring young lady, Emma is from a well-off family and has a degree in Mass Communication. During the time this happened, her parents found out she was supporting the villains and severed ties with her, the radio station she worked at fired her and she soon found herself working around the clock as Ace Chrome -- errand girl, decoy, bait and all-around useless villain. Despite all this, she appears rather cheerful, melodramatic and even a little crazy. She pictures the leader of Animus to be her lover and will do just about anything for him.

The next step of his training was to turn him into an emotionless killer to be used against the nation's enemies. Unfortunately they were too successful and Drake wound up slaughtering all of his tormentors without a second thought. After escaping from captivity he started randomly killing before eventually being taken in by the Animus Faction to maintain social order within the organization. When not on a mission Black Pain is used as the organization's head torturer of the Faction's enemies or of members who aren't doing their job well enough or who step out of line.

Bio: Mason was a former Animus member who worked under the alias of Ghost. He was able to use his powers to become a spy but all that backfired when he was caught off guard and killed in flash gang fight.
He shared the same lab space as Voltedge but unlike the poor girl he remembered what it was like to be human and after being set free by her escape when in search of people to torment with his powers. Not to long after he was picked up by the Animus who put him to work as a spy amongst the other faction.

Bio: Torrin was the black sheep of his family. He didn't belong. Distraught, he joined a gang and did all kinds of crazy, stupid things. As such, his criminal record is faaar from clean. One day in a fight with another gang, a car suddenly came up, intent on running him over. Instead of hitting him, he was surprised to see the vehicle suddenly impaled on a gigantic spike from the ground. When a fellow gangster tried to touch him and pull him away, spikes also emerged from his shoulder, injuring the man. Torrin tried to explain but his gang fled and so did the other gang, scared off. Once again, he was alone when he was recruited to join Barbus, (someone having tipped them off about seeing the kid's power). In Barbus, he found many just like himself -- young, wild, out of control and free. He still does petty thuggish things like trying to rob convenience stores, mugging citizens and shoplifting but he is more dedicated to Barbus than anything. He is very aggressive and prankish in nature. One could say that given the right kind of attention, he may not have turned into such a bad kid after all.

Bio: During the war with in the city she was still in much prototype experiments for multiple software programs. She was created long ago before the war by an old villain technomancer who was killed in the war. She was built to replace his lost loved one, and to fight for him as given, but he longed for the perfect program to complete the perfect, advanced creature to give her the humanity and drive like every other monster in the city. Though he came close to it, he was invaded and killed in combat. Pyridium was believed dead, but she was set into emergency shut down and hidden safely underground from the heroes and other villains so she wouldn't be ripped away and used for scraps. She was found a year ago by one of the Barbus members, most of her data intact though there has been some damaged aspects and pieces missing that interferes with her memories. She took it upon herself to serve the leader in replacing of her old creator, creating a new function for herself in which indicates her logical reasoning and adaptable skills.

When she finds herself in question of the human beings around her, she often answers it with failure and finds it difficult to simply let it go. She seeks more some days, but doesn't know what. Her power source comes from wind, solar, light, and even filtration of microorganisms. Sometimes will manual sources of power if she needs to. Her weakness is being submerged in water (or if one is strong enough, taking her apart), she'll eventually shut down with in thirty minutes with lack of power and too much electrical interference. She is fairly fast at processing information, and seems human in many aspects to the five senses.

Her parents took her to multiple therapists, put her on tons of medications, and tried to create a normal perfect little girl. Little did they know, these medications caused her to develop split personalities disorder. Her parents depositied her in an insane asylum, never looking back at the monster they created. Luckily for her, Barbus destroyed the insane asylum and set her free to wreck havoc amongst the world once more. Now, she secretly runs an underground lab for Barbus trying to develop new ideas and new weaponary for the members.

Alina is a thief by nature and a trouble maker, she joined Barbus because in a growing struggle between good and evil and even evil and evil you need to have some sort of connection or else in the end you will have no place. However, even though she is on her own accord most of the time, she is highly sought after by her members and even some from other factions to do some tricky and stealthy jobs. Her ability to teleport along with her thieving skills has earned her quite a reputation. In the end however Alina looks out for only herself and doesn't plan on letting anything or anyone ruin that.

Weapons/Abilities: Phoebe is able to control and manipulate rose’s and vines. The sword that she uses acts more as a whip, interlocking steel plates are connected to the main hilt by a thick wire cord. She's stronger in long and mid-range combat then she is in hand to hand or close range.

Bio: Phoebe was always reluctant to pin herself to any faction, she felt that dividing people into categories such as villain or hero would only cause greater problems. As a child Phoebe had always had an affinity with flowers, being able to keep them alive months after they should have died. When her ability was found phoebe's father tried to force her to join the Hero’s, convinced it was her duty to help humanity. When she refused to choose a faction her father left the family.
Months after when the villains rose to power Phoebe's mother was murdered after being caught in the middle of an Animus and Barbarus power skirmish. Distraught Phoebe joined the Hero’s, not out of revenge but out of a determination to help the broken family’s that the villains uprising had caused.
When asked Phoebe will only ever say she is on ‘humanity’s side’ and is highly reluctant to call herself a ‘Hero’.

Weapons/Abilities: Self-cloning to a max. of 10 clones. When a clone is killed, it evaporates, and the original suffers mental shock from having to experience the clone's last moments. When prepared and calm, a single clone will usually take a minute of focus, otherwise potentially longer, and quite impossible when being punched in the face.

Bio: Armand was born the single child of a low-income family in a calm neighbourhood. Everything could be argued to have been extremely normal for him in his early childhood, then one day, he had a twin. His parents were more than surprised; the boys were identical and shared memories, and even when separated one seemed to know what the other was thinking and where they were. Then, as suddenly as Armand's twin had appeared, he vanished. His parents were a little on edge, thinking it all the potential work of villains in this increasingly super powered society. Police queries brought up nothing, and as no one had been harmed, the situation calmed. Then, Armand's parents woke up to five copies of their son cooking breakfast.
Armand had control of his cloning ability in early teen years, and when it was not used for pranks or to keep himself company - powers made him a little isolated in a normal high school - he furthered his own interests, whether hobbies or studies. Armand's adventures as more than one person taught him well to work with others and to understand people better. It quickly grew to a liking to helping other people. This was manifested with ideas to be a 'hero' during his more rebellious years as a teenager.
Sure enough, beating up bad guys came easier when you could overwhelm when 5-10 people against 1 or 2. He was eventually picked up by Verone's League of Heroes and taught better applications for his power. They focused his interests on the larger picture of helping others, not just petty thug-fights on the streets.
During the later years of the League, Armand was capable of leading multiple lives and made best use of it. He had several identities as regular citizen, working 9 to 5 and helped his other identities through financial support. Then, there were spies. Clones who went in disguise to criminal rings or villain groups and fed information to the ones on the side of the League. Last and least, his powers were utilized for shock troops and pawns in bigger fights.
The elimination of the League scared him more than anything. Whatever safeguard had been placed on his family, failed, and the original Armand and creator of all clones came under attack while visiting his parents. He survived, just, but his parents didn't. Most clones withdrew, many disappeared in the middle of their lives, and the original Armand Castle was forced into hiding, to rise another day.
Now, the true Armand Castle has returned to Verone. His clones work on the background to support whatever he needs in his new mission; to retake Verone.

Bio: Starcatcher used to be a villain called Shinobi and a member of the Animus Faction. As Shinobi, she would attack from the shadows, flinging star-shaped energy disks to incapacitate or kill her intended victims. She was one of the Animus’s best assassins. If her boss needed something done quickly and silently, Shinobi was the one to go to. That is, until she met her untimely demise. Or so everyone thought. She had gotten caught in the crossfire during one of the earlier battles between the Animus and Barbus factions and had been buried in the rubble of a fallen building. She managed, just barely, to claw her way out—she didn’t know how long after the battle it was—and was found lying on the cement in the mouth of an alleyway by a middle-aged couple who rushed her to the hospital, saving her life. When she woke, the girl had almost no memory of who she had been. The couple that had found her—the Lucians—took her in as their own and gave her the name Danica, meaning star. The Lucians taught Danica to do right by others, and when she found out about the powers she has she decided to use them to do as she was taught.

His powers developped at a slower rate than those of his sister's, so his were more or less ignored in favour of hers. Trent was later accepted into a school for the intellectually gifted. When Trent found out that his mother was killed during a skirmish between the city's leading villain organizations, he decided to use his powers once and for all to stop the villains so that no more innocent people will get hurt because of them.

Bio: Zaine wasn't born with her powers, yet she was unaware of when or why she had gotten them. She lost many of her memories from before the age of seven. Bottom line, She couldn't remember a majority of her childhood, but ever since then, every time she falls asleep she has horrible nightmares, and wakes up with the feeling that her vocal chords had been ripped out of her throat. She grew up with her aunt and cousin in a normal house and joined a rag-tag band her and her friends threw together, and that was when she began to toy with her power. She could use it to make any sound she had melodious or displeasing to the ear. Fair? Probably not. But she wasn't going to let her power go to waste. She made it of some use to her. She made it decently big with her band, but manages to slip away to be Soundscreech. She learned the destructive property of her power when she woke up from one of her nightmares one time. When she screamed, she shattered every piece of glass in the house, as well as deafened her cousin for a few months after his ears bled.

Bio: Kyle doesn't know how he acquired his powers but he doesn't question it. He has been keeping low in the city, fighting small time crooks, too afraid to even take a hit at Animus or Barbus. Kyle made the decision to fight crime for his mother. After the city was taken over she changed, becoming a recluse and neglecting him, he hopes that if he changes the city back she'll change back to normal.
He recently dropped out of school to fight the villains full time.

Bio: VoltEdge with the serial code EVA 0098247 is an escaped lab specimen. She was just a random child picked off the street then but years of experimentation, injections and other tests have changed her hair to a bright red. She understands a few English commands but does not know how to speak, read, or write any language as speaking to her was highly discouraged back at the facility. The lab was not able to continue their pursuit of her due to the villains' takeover. Bio: Serene is one of the "library hauntings" of the Verone library. The citizens are afraid of her, making her library to be completely deserted. People tend to think of her as a ghost, while the rogues and villians alike knew who she is. Severina is an alias given to her by many of her friends and foes due to her stern look in battle. She could've have passed that point to being emotionless. No one know where she comes from though, she have entered the city since before the villians took over. As long as they don't meddle with her, she wouldn't meddle with them. She is seen walking through wars and battles inside the city, getting mementos and charms each dead villian has. No one knows why she does that, but there a terrible rumors of her being a "witch" and taking the items for her "evil" rituals. Even though she looks fearsome and emotionless, people can interact with her. if they interact with her properly, she'll be normal as any shy girl. The villians know that she can be bargained in exchange for something to make her help them in a battle once, and only once. Those who decieve her will meet a terrible fate. The library is her home, she spends most of her time reading and goes outside only after a battle is over. Being stuck most of the time in the library she is pretty lonely and things are getting boring for her...

Bio: When she was younger it would be her and some school friends, out in the slums of the city, playing sports of all kinds and they'd always find any location they could get to play (top of the building, near the sewer system, or near the gates of some jail). During their play they all got caught up in the middle of some hero against some villain, or maybe it was just two super powered jack holes. It didn't matter, the accident nearly killed her, but then it made her what almost killed her. On the downside, she held a lot of adrenaline in her system and held some sleep issues. She sought out drugs and other chemicals to try to make her sleep, along the lines falling into an addiction. She caught up with the other super beings, villain or hero, in attempts to earn herself a little way in the world. Often she's a dealer on the side with other average citizens, or other super powered. Many have bribed her and she's switched between the hero and villain side a lot for said rewards (She's saved the city or destroyed it many times). Now that the villains have completely taken over, she's remained hidden in the street for now. She works for herself, many know it, and her since of loyalty is either the winning side or one that holds the chemical.

It wasn't too long before she was making innovations in the field of robotics and designing high-tech military weaponry. Once the trouble started with the villains and the heroes in Verone, however, everything started to go downhill. Every technology convention she went to was attacked and/or ransacked by the competing factions, going out in public meant risking her life in case she stumbled upon one of their make-do battlegrounds, and if she upset or refused either faction she knew her family would be targeted. After one run-in with Barbus that got her previous laboratory blown up, she quit her job and completely disappeared from public eye. Some assumed that she died. Others that she left the city for good. In truth she just moved out of her old mansion and into a small apartment in downtown Verone with her dog, completely reinventing herself as a ditzy purple-haired socialite named "Candi Johnson". Her 'Candi' persona is completely different from her real self, a scantilly clad brainless ditz only interested in immediate gratification and expensive luxuries. As of yet, no one has noticed that "Candi" and Lilith are one and the same. One would be surprised how much difference a wig, colored-contacts, a little bit of mascara, and an eyebrow-plucking would make.
