Nevermind, I determined the answer.
Before it wasn't possible to see that the item NEXT to it cost 300B. So, they added a 100g item so that it wouldn't interferre with the zeros.
That is SO MUCH FAIL.
None of their coders can figure out how to re-space items in the shops or add comas to the prices, all they know how to do this point is add MORE ITEMS.

I was going to say that the red dye was made from the blood of previous Gaia owners who the new owners murdered and sacrificed to some demon god.
But your answer is probably more plausible.
