You know that feeling you get after you walk out of a friends house laughing when It's raining outside? You have a few blocks you have to walk home and it's cool and drizzling. In the hot sticky air you welcome the cool droplets with no umbrella. The happiness doesn't melt, it cools into contentedness. Not a sound should be spoken and none should be made except for the tip, top, tip, top, of your shoes on the concrete side walk. Your mind wanders upon everything without you having much control over it. Color isn't an option, but black and white doesn't exist either. Only the smooth easy nature colors exist. The earth colors. You walk slowly and you beg that no cars pass you on the busy street. The smell of rain is light, like a candle that has no scent yet once it's blown out the smell blows passed your face and out the window with the breeze. Then you find a song. "Country Roads, take me home... To the place, I be-long, West virginia, mountain momma, Take me home, country roads" You sing to yourself, allowing the song to fill your veins. "All my memries, gather round her, Miners lady, stranger to blue water, Dark and dusty, painted on the sky, Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye," It doesn't matter how loud you sing.... it's 3:30 and everyones home from school already "Country roads, take me home, To the place, I be-long, West virginia, mountain momma, Take me home, country roads" By now you're almost yelling the song at the empty streets. "I hear her voice, In the mornin hour she calls me, The radio reminds me of my, home far away, And drivin down the road I get a feelin, That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday" You're almost home but this feeling doesn't fade. It doesn't matter who hears anymore, you are filled with the purest feeling you've ever felt in your life. "Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads
Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Take me home, now country roads Take me home, now country roads" You're home now and the strings unwind, but as you walk through the door and the rain stops. Mom is making dinner and after a while asks you what you're humming. "Just a little tune," You reply, saying the lyrics once over in your head. "Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads"
