Stepping through puddles, she ran as far away as she could, yet they still kept up their pace... she tried to distance herself, yet still, they always seemed to be just a few feet away. She ran down the alleyway, around the dumpster, and into a huge crack in the wall to try and hide... she could hear the sound of their footsteps, like a millon soldiers marching in a orderly disarray. Her heart was pounding inside her chest, her mind sounded louder then her heavy breathing and bile rose in her throat as she heard their faint whispers slowly turn to thunderous screams inside her mind... They would find her, she knew it.. She quickly crawled through the maze inside the room she was in and found another hole to get out from on the other side. And again, she ran. Ran as far away and as quickly as she could. And they still followed. Their marching continued. Her breath was already peircing her lungs, and her heart rate was so fast now that it felt like a time bomb ticking to its ultimate demise, but still, she continued running. She tried not to look behind her but something told her to look, and she saw one of their faces. A blank cold face with no mouth, no nose, no eyes, nothing but just blank. Although lack of a mouth, it didnt prevent the creature from screaming its shrill scream that alarmed the others, and it tried hynotizing her with its composure. She almost fell for it, slowing down her pace and staring into its blank face. But then she realized what she was doing and looked away almost as instantly as she had looked at it. She turned out of the long alleyway into the main street where a busy busle of traffic was suppose to be, but it was now empty. Empty and would forever be this empty. No sign of other life anywhere but her own and the parasitic life of those who chased her. She tried sprinting across the street into yet another alleyway but she slipped and fell face first into the muddy puddle. She twisted herself as she fell down fast and yelped in pain. The fall had sprained her ankle. She tried to get up still, but could no longer run. She limped as fast as she could to continue distancing herself from those things. The things that had taken away what seemed like the whole rest of the world away. She continued trying to get away and found another cove in which to hide in for a while, at least to get her strength back. As she crouched in the cove, she began to realize her efforts were in vain. She could not escape something that wouldnt stop until it had its way with her, until it drained her, took all thats left. She kept wondering why she even tried, why even though she felt loss of hope, why the fight was still in her. She kept trying to keep her hopes up but they were shot down by what seemed to be the knowledge that everyone else had died. But had they died trying? Did she need to set an example for herself, the almost seemingly non-existant world that she tried, she never gave up even when hope should have been lost? as if her soul told her that she was right, her sprained ankle seemed less of a hold-back then it had been. Once again, she heard the faint whispers of the creatures, the creatures that slowly tried to consume the rest of her sanity. She crawled out from the cove and ran once more.
