1 Maya opened the door to the school and walked in, looking at the map. "Hm...Where is the head mistress's office? I need to know where my dorm is," she said with butterflies in her stomach. Maya heard a noise and ran to find a 2 people standing in front of a room that she assumed to be the library. "Um what just happened?" she asked as she saw the door on the floor and the frame splintering. A boy turned to face her. “Oh, hi. And who might you be and what might you be?” he asked. Maya looked down and thought, ‘Okay, good I am in my solid form.’ "My name is Maya and I am new here. I am a ghost but I am in my solid form right now,” she replied. "I see. Well, it’s nice to meet you Maya,” he said. "Nice to meet you um...sorry, I didn't catch your name," she said blushing. "And, if I may ask, what are you?" He change into a demon "Well, I’m a shape shifter and my name is Kuro Hono. You can call me Kuro, though." He then changed back into his normal form. "So, how long have you been a ghost?" She didn’t reply. “Fine, don’t answer me,” he said, walking away. Maya watched the guy walk away and dug her hands into her pocket. Her hand wrapped around the small piece of paper that was in it. "Hm...that wasn't there before," she said reading it. "Oh-my-gosh! It’s my dorm room number!" she said, excited because she couldn't find the headmistress. "Hm...dorm number is #742 with a person named Francesca," she said thinking out loud "I can't wait to meet my roomy!" she said looking up to see a guy and a girl standing talking she walked up to them "Hi, I am Maya and I am new here!" The girl turned to her and looked at her. "Yeah, I'm Francesca," she turned back to the boy. “Good luck,” she said, then she walked away. She followed her apparent roommate to her dorm and used her powers to bring her stuff up from her car. "Man, this is going to be a long year," she thought as her roommate left and she started to design her half of the room with her furniture and as she painted the walls with clouds and rainbows. "I hope my roomy likes it," she said, thinking out loud. Her roommate came back into the room. “Yo,” Francesca said. Maya dropped the paint can as she lost concentration on her powers as she was startled by her roommate. "Crud," she said under her breath for 2 reasons. One for the fact that her wall had paint splatters of red all over it, and 2 because she could tell her roommate hated her. "Um, what’s up? Sorry about the mess, I will get it cleaned" she said transporting her carpet cleaner from her car through the open window. "I hope you like clouds and rainbows because it is hard to get this paint off of the walls, you can only use water," she said as she filled a cup with water and dipped a sponge in there and started to clean the paint off. "So, uh, your name is Francesca? Mine is Maya," she said. "Not like you care," she added under her breath. "You're right, I don't care," Francesca said as-a-matter-of-factly. Then she slammed her book closed and left the room again. "Great, I have the roomy from hell," Maya said as she finished cleaning the paint off the wall and off the carpet. "This year is going to be longer than I expected," Maya said starting to paint again. "I hope no one else is a butt head." Maya turned on her favorite song ‘Rockstar’ by Nickelback on, blaring it and painting and singing along. When Maya finished painting as the song finished, she turned off the music and stood back to admire her work. "Perfect," she exclaimed with joy "Now time to go for my daily walk," she said changing into sweats and putting her hair up. "Hopefully it isn't too cold today." She started walking out, only to see her roommate sitting by the water and shivering. "Hey, do you want a sweater? I can use my powers to get you one," she said trying to make friends with her roommate. "No, I'm fine," Francesca said. "How could you really care? I was a b-" she stopped herself, "jerk back there. I appreciate your kindness, but don't expect an apology. Sorry means you won't do it again. And I will do it again." She looked away. "I didn't expect one," Maya said coldly as she walked off and turned into a ghost so she wouldn't be seen. "I am glad I am a ghost so the stupid norms can't bug me," she said to herself as norms stared towards her thinking they were going crazy. Maya started to run through the crowds of people accumulating in front of the shops. "Gosh, I am glad I am a ghost or this run would be next to impossible," she said out loud so the norms would freak out. "Man, freaking out norms never gets old," she said out loud as she tapped a few people on their shoulder and watched them freak out. Maya turned around and started running towards the school. She had run for 30 minutes so she wanted to go back and rest, hoping her roommate wasn't in their dorm. When she got to the school she ran to their dorm passing her roommate and what looked like an orb. She ignored them both and opened the door and lay on her bed, still in ghost form but she didn't care. She fell asleep with out changing and dreamt of her family. 2 Maya woke up not knowing where she was so she stood up and screamed. Her ankle hurt badly! She tried to get up for help, but fell on her ankle and screamed louder and started crying and screaming more. A few seconds later, Francesca ran into the room and knelt beside her. “Are you alright?” she asked. Another boy came into the room, and, surprisingly enough, Francesca asked him for help. He looked to her ankle and said that it was only a sprained ankle, and wrapped it up. Francesca carried her to the bed and lay her down. “You heard him, stay off that ankle,” she said before she rushed out of the room. Maya couldn't move. She screamed out in agony, for it seemed like she could move her body but it was like her spirit left her and was hovering over her. She tried to talk to Francesca and the guy but she just couldn't, so she just sat there and watch them bandage her then put her on the bed the walk away. ‘Help guys! Please! Something is wrong!’ she tried to say but she couldn't. She tried to force her spirit back down into her body, but she couldn't she had no idea what she was going to do. A few seconds later, Francesca walked back into the room. "You doing alright?" she asked in her usual emotionless tone. The boy came back into the room and seemed to see her. He said something she couldn’t understand and Francesca replied in what was probably a cold tone. Maya watched the guy and Francesca talk she could hear the noise of them talking but she didn't know what they were saying. She tried to talk but she still couldn't. It wasn't normal for her spirit to separate from her solid form and even if it did she should still be able to talk but she can't she had no idea what was happening but she was starting to be freaked out. Maya could make out a few words hear and there by reading their lips. She got “Book”, “Library”, “Larz”, and “Spirit”. She figured Larz was the guy and they wanted a book on spirits from the library. ‘I hope that they are trying to help me,’ Maya tried to say with out success again. She tried to push her spirit back into her again but failed terribly. Francesca began to walk away, but then stopped. She turned around and headed back to Maya’s solid form and before anybody knew what was happening, she clapped her hands together and then, though she had been successful in getting Maya back to her body, she fainted. 3 Maya opened her mouth and started to shake as her spirit entered her body. "Oh my gosh! Francesca!" Maya said realizing she said it out loud and she touched her lips. "Oh my gosh! I just talked! I just talked!" she said. Remembering Francesca, she stood up and picked her up and put her on the bed and transported ice water in a bucket with a sponge and hand towel. "Francesca!" she yelled, checking to see if she was breathing as she put a wet towel on her forehead. "Please wake up," she said. "Nothing to worry about she is just knocked out from exhaustion,” said Larz. It was a few moments before Francesca awoke. "Good," she said immediately, "the transmutation worked." She sat up and took the towel off her head. "If Maya's alright, then I'll go now." Larz sighed and walked out. Francesca stood, though she wobbled a little, she grabbed the wall to support her and walked out of the room. Maya had never thanked Francesca for what she did, so she went out side to find her by the lake again. Maya went and sat next to her. She listened to her sing as she hugged her knees, too. "Hey, thanks for before," she said rocking back and forth. "You didn't have to do that. I mean, risk your life for me. I am truly grateful," she said as she looked at her shoes and stopped rocking. "If there was even a chance that that would have even slightly risked my life, I wouldn't have hesitated as I had," Francesca replied. She didn't look at Maya. Maya sat there hugging her knees, she looked over. "What race are you?" she asked, trying to get to know her roommate, "and what are your pet peeves? I don't want to be a retarded butt head roommate that you hate," she said. "Okay," said Francesca, looking over to Maya, "I'm an elf, I hate pretty much everything and I really don't have much of a good side." She turned her head back to the water. "Does that answer your question?" She closed her eyes, "Know tell me about you. You died, and came back?" Francesca didn't wait for her to reply. "Why would you do that? You got what I'd wanted most, and you threw it away and came back down to this...place!? Why would you do that?" Maya had been in a daze then she remembered the question. "Oh, sorry. Um, yeah it was raining one day and I was going over to a friend’s house after I had finished baby sitting the neighbor’s kid," she said remembering. "It started raining down hard and I was running down the street to my friend’s. I checked both ways before crossing, and I had on bright clothes so you could see me, but when I was crossing a car came around a turn and didn't stop and ran straight into me," she said looking town and tightly hugging her legs. "I guess I was in the hospital for awhile in a comma with a breather I was pretty much dead the only thing keeping me alive was the air tube so my mom stopped it because she knew that is what I wanted." She took a breath. "When I went up to heaven since I was so young and meant to be on earth longer, so I got to come back with two requests. My two was to have a solid form and be able to talk to regular forms so yeah that is my life story I guess," she said, afraid to look up at Francesca. "Yes, but WHY?!" Francesca said loudly. "WHY did you come back here? You had a chance to leave this torture, didn't you? Why would you choose to come back to it?" "I think I was a normal human doing normal things. I can only live to be 100 to 200 you as an Elf can be 1000 years old and not be able to die? Yeah, you will get bored with life. But think when you were 15, were you bored with life? Or did you have things you planned on doing? Having children, a husband, graduating high school and going to college? Being able to work at a real job for a real pay check? I never had the chance to, so that is why. I may be stuck on earth for the rest of eternity but at least I get to do some of the things I always wanted to," she said staring at the water and humming her old high school's song, "Hail To South Port High" she sung then started to hum again. "I'm gonna go to bed," Francesca said. She stood up and held out a hand to Maya, "You coming?" Maya was confused; this was a girl that was acting mean to her, now changing to be nice. Maya was confused but she decided to go along with it. "Uh, sure, but I am a little hungry, too, so I am gonna go get food. See you at the room," she said standing up and smiling. "I am going to get some Chinese food, want any?" she asked, being nice. "No, I'm not hungry," she said. She pulled Maya to her feet and walked away. Maya changed to her ghost form and started running down the street where she saw a Chinese Restaurant on the way to the school and she stopped jumping into the alley to change then she casually walked out and into the store. She ordered her food and walked out slowly walking towards the school. When she got to the school she saw Francesca and Larz talking up in the bell tower so she decided to go over there when she got to the top she said, "Hey guys what’s up? Got some food do you two want any?" she sat down and looked at them. Larz turned and waved to Maya then turned back to Francesca. "So you hate your people too? Is it alright if I ask why?" he asked, growing more and more curious about her. "Who are you waving to-" she stopped as she saw Maya. "Oh, hey," she said, waving to her roommate. She looked back Larz "Elves are very traditional. They don't accept anything different than what they think is 'normal.' I guess I don't fit that description, since I don't like to sing, I'm an alchemist, and I don't socialize much. 'Women are meant to cook and sing, while the alchemist men are out protecting,' or something stupid like that. I was good at science, so they don't like me. And I don't like them," she said. Francesca and Larz left a little while later, and Maya spent the night in the bell tower. 4 The next day, she wandered around the school grounds and saw Larz and Francesca and some tiny creature. She walked over. "Hey you guys!" she shouted to them. "Hey," Francesca said. "Hello Lunelle," Larz said blankly. When he saw Maya he waved. "Hey Maya." "Alright, fine, whatever. I won't try to kill you if you don't push bags of sand on top of me,'' Francesca said to the tiny Lunelle. Yawning, the girl turned to Maya. "’Ello, poppet." Then she started to glow, which obviously got on Francesca’s nerves. "You know, you've got fat fingers," she said, grabbing Francesca’s pinkie, which was used in place of a handshake, with her tiny hand she shook it and smiled sarcastically. Francesca held up her hand as if she was going to flick her away, but stopped herself. "Larz, I'm gonna head up to the bell tower, I'll meet you up there, 'kay?" she said through her teeth. Lunelle ducked and covered to avoid Francesca’s flick. When she realized there was no threat, she smiled. She whispered something into Francesca's ear. Francesca’s face got red hot. She clenched her teeth and her eyes got wide. This time she didn't resist. She lifted her fingers and flicked the tiny body away from her. "You can never mind that truce we were discussing!" she shouted after her. Maya smiled and chuckled, heading back to her room.
