The civilian combat correspondent implanted on a war front, weather on land or at sea, is a camp follower. For transpertaion, food, lodging, and any amenities he or she is exspected,in turn, to provide the service that links the war front to the home front.
Certainly that was true of the coverage of World War 2 in the european theater where, at worst, the shelter of ruined cities and towns was usually avilable, as was not always so in the pacific and far east theaters. If the correspondent was of draft age, as was this one, and he accepted that his own career as a journalist was being advanced while those of his peers, his protectors, were on hold, some forever, he knew for the rest of his life he knew he would be in debt.
It is to those who, in all this country's wars, fought for us and died in the doing that this book, in all huminity and with the utmost gratitude, is dedicated.

Yes this does have some of my older work in it, but it is mostly facts and history.
