Idiots on Gaia will always be idiots, unfortunately. scream
Anyway, this is regarding the HTML exploit in Towns and other related hangouts. They are down as of this writing, but it was funny and godawful at the same time. Funny to me, but godawful to the people who didn't like it or whose computers (or Internet connection) couldn't handle it well. Also, the *Chans didn't do this, it was just regular Gaia users and trolls. In fact, they found out too late! rofl
ROFL'ing aside, it wouldn't have been a very good thing if they got ahold of this simple exploit if the Hangouts were still active.
Now to the main point. The current exploit was in the form of HTML Unicode, meaning a percentage hexadecimal code can be used in place of a normal letter, number, symbol, or space character. I found out way too quickly when Gaia users were using the code simply to change the size and color of their post font. My immediate prediction when I saw someone's screencap of another user abusing the exploit (font size was up to 72), was:
This is not going to be good.
And I was right.
Not even two hours later, I go back into Towns to show my younger sister what the hell they were doing there, and I see Flash videos and pictures going about. Didn't hear sound, because I always have my speaker on mute, unless I WANTED to listen to music or watch a video. And when I turned my notebook computer away from her view, a porn video post showed up. Thank God she didn't see that. Now I wish I reported this to Panagrammic earlier. emo Sorry...
At least I didn't use the coding but for recreating purposes. But still... emo
Went to Questions and Assistance, Site Feedback, and Gaia Community Discussion, all talking about the exploit, and only one thread thinking it was a raid. IT WASN'T. Can't blame the OP of that thread, though. The *Chans would've done something malicious with that code, though.
So yeah. Idiots will always be idiots. Reminds you of that mirror avi glitch three months ago. Now this journal entry ends here. Later. stressed
Edit 8:17 AM EST: A user in some thread mentioned that someone posted some goatse pictures. They definitely did go too far after all. xp
