wahmbulance WARNING: RANT ALERT! wahmbulance
Devs = Developers EI = Evolutionary Items
First off, I've been going to the Site Feedback since I've heard of the *Chan "raid," which was somewhere past the second week of April, and they supposedly started it in late March. Am I missing something here?
Anyway, Site Feedback again. MORE idiocy. I will point out a few things. First from the users' side:
*People complain that the forum-based events were boring/dull and wanted to try something new before they thought of others' computer and Internet connection speeds (which may have been brought up before). The devs listened. Then, when the event comes up, here comes the bitching regarding the issues mentioned here and more. scream For the people arguing of technical issues they had with Flash games in general... The users' slow connections, they cannot control. The lag, they cannot control. The slow computers, they, once again, cannot control. The devs are not psychics. They cannot go, "You have a slow Internet connection, so..." or "Your computer isn't fast enough, so..." and magically optimize your settings. Really. You expect too much from them.
*The EI announcement. Really, THIS one is grating. Since the event "decided" to screw up (and that's not entirely the devs' fault), the announcement became delayed for next week due to technical difficulties. I was fine with it, and I know a few other users were as well, but apparently the rest of the users weren't. rolleyes s**t happens. Get over it. You expect things to be delayed in real life, you should expect things to be delayed on Gaia. stare
And now the devs' side:
*The event itself. Not bad, but not great, either. If there were a forum-based item section along with the flash-based Hangout system, as many users have stated, it would've been epic win. xd
*OMG. Just because there was a screw-up with the current Gaia event doesn't mean that you shouldn't announce to the users of the delayed EI report. Instead, you post it in a thread located right in the Gaia Community Discussion. gonk Look for the reason at the paragraph starting with "Another thing."
Now this is what I have to say:
Despite what the devs did now (somewhat explicit song left in during testing, not releasing an announcement of why the EI report was delayed, etc, etc.), it's more of the users at fault. They seem to talk down to the devs of their mistakes and don't seem to consider their feelings regarding this day. It makes me ashamed to be on Gaia because of their selfishness (although some users did mention good points in the Site Feedback).
Another thing... the site was so unstable today, I couldn't even surf the site as frequently as I normally would, meaning it would occasionally just cut off, then load up again. And don't tell me it was my Internet connection; it was still on when I loaded another site. talk2hand A dev stated that this was the reason why they didn't even announce the prom or the EI report using the announcements system. Probably would've crashed the site. xd Because you know how much bandwidth is used when each time an announcement (or any other page) takes load on a server. And if they go to the same location... LOL unstable!
The devs worked so hard, probably to the point of being overworked, to bring us this event, and you just basically said: "it is epic fail." I know some people disliked the event, but some others were rude about it. And that's what pissed me off. It is not the end of the world, just wait a few days for everything to settle down a bit. Also, get off Gaia or the computer for a while. There is no reason to be rude because things didn't go your way.
I'm glad I only lurk in the forums most of the time. stressed
And I did notice that I typed up a TL;DR rant. sweatdrop
