Why does so many people strive to become "cool" now a days? What is the point of it? What can they use it for? Nothing, in my opinion.
Who defines what is "cool" and what is not? Who cares anway? Everyone does apparently. But why do they do that? Is it for their own sake or for others? Do they do it to stand out and be acknowlegded? Because they want to be "different"? To show their "rebellion"? The theories are plenty.
I really will not bother to find out why. All I know, is that I find it lame and shallow. Why be "cool" anyway? It serves no purpose. None other than you having to keep it up and maintain it. What is wrong with being plain? If everybody were plain, would that be considered being "cool"? Again, I do not care. I know that those people who find me interesting, funny etc. like me even though I may not be "cool". If people want to avoid me because I hear the "wrong" music, then let them. I do not care. I do not want to submit to this ridiculous R & B/rap/hip hop culture. I do not even like any of these things. You cannot handle it? Fine, now go away.
Everywhere I see people who wear their caps like dorks. I see people buy clothes for three times the money that I buy my clothes for. These people obviously have too much money to blow on excessive clothes. Why do ladies have so many shoes? I have one pair. That is enough for me. They have lasted for about 4-5 years by now. They have never been any trouble at all. Again something I find excessive.
If clothes was not enough. There is also "cool" food. MacDonalds, where food is crap, sells huge amounts of "food", which apparently is "good". You like the taste? Then just buy a bucket of the stuff they fry it all in. That's where the taste comes from. The food there is fattening, expensive, but worst of all is it, that it doesn't make you feel full. I do not understand why people buy it there.
Then there's music. The "cool" music right now must be that rhytm and blues thing. Or whatever it's called. Oh well, no one cares. Anyway! People must think they are "cool" because they listen to this. News flash: You are not "cool", but a dork who think it's "cool" to do so. Why has it become so popular anyway? Because the media, i.e. television, radio and the internet succesfully have brainwashed young people to make them think that it is the "right" music to listen to. That is why I don't watch MTV or listen to the radio. I want to keep being sane.
People use many ways to become "cool". It's just sad that you are only worth something if you are "cool". Again, I do not care if I'm nothing worth, if it means that I have to become a dork
