They said it would take time to get over him.
but I already knew that
he was always the type of guy girls trip over for
too bad I was one of them
he basked in his popularity while I was tossed to the side
standing alone like the patient girlfriend I was
every night he'd come back to me
too content to ever ask questions
I( never saw the fading light in his eyes
or the force behind his smile
he said he never wanted to hurt me
that I was his fragile butterfly
after a while the light was gone
and he didn't smile at all
he stopped coming back to me at all at night
he would never even try
