Part 2 Meanwhile, in a dark castle, high up in the mountains, an evil lord lay, scheming. He was an old acquaintance of Millie's parents. He had once been an old family friend, but he had set the fire that burned down White Rose Manor, with Millie's parents along with it. Millie and Andrew had never seen him since. They didn't know it, but at this moment, while they were having their happy little reunion, the evil lord, Lord Thornblade, was planning their very deaths! There was a short rap at the door, interrupting Lord Thornblade's thoughts. "Come in," he called, a bit impatiently. The timid maid pushed open the door and hurried in, carrying a tea tray with his afternoon tea and biscuits on it. "For you, my lord." She said nervously, tucking behind a strand of loose brown hair. Lord Thornblade sighed arrogantly. "Set the tray on the table, and you may leave." He said, sipping some tea. "Oh, and, Lilia?" She turned around. "Yes?" Her soft voice tinkled like bells in the wind. "Call my nephew. I have a job for him." Lilia nodded and hurried away, sighing with relief that she was safe for another day.
Millie hugged her little brother tightly. "Oh, thank goodness you're safe!" She said joyfully. 15-year-old Andrew rolled his eyes. "Sisters." He muttered. Millie was 17, but she acted like she was 30! "So, did you get the book? Dad said that if he ever died, steal back the book the landlord took, and it will help take care of us." Andrew said hopefully. "Well...yes and no." Millie explained the whole story, up to the part where she had become a spy. Before Andrew could respond, there was a knock at the door. "I'll get it!" Andrew yelled. He flung open the door, to reveal a handsome stranger dressed in black. "Who are you?" Andrew asked, motioning for Millie to come over. "My name is Charles. You could say I know the late Mr. and Mrs. Hawkson." He said, referring to Millie and Andrew's parents. "May I come in?" he asked. "Um...sure." Millie opened the door wider, not knowing that this was Lord Thornblade's nephew, and she might be much safer in a cage with a hungry lion!
Inside, Millie told Charles to sit down on the sofa, while Andrew and she sat on the love seat across from him. Millie went to get refreshments, turning her back to Charles. He quickly drew out a knife, intending to stab her in the back, when Andrew asked him what was he doing. "Um... I was demonstrating my awesome sword skills!" Charles said nervously, shrugging it off. Millie came back with a platter of cookies and some lemonade. "Tell us about yourself." She told Charles, who instantly made up a story. "I'm an entrepreneur who came here to make a living, but I couldn't find a place to lodge. I decided to find you guys, to see if you would help." Charles looked meaningfully at Millie and Andrew. "Oh! Well, in that case, you're welcome to stay here." Millie said, "We have a guestroom you could use." Charles agreed. Suddenly, another knock sounded at the door. Millie sprung up to get it. It was Ryan, a member of the O.O.S. He had been the "voice" that had talked to her before. "Hi Ryan!" During the short time they had known each other, Millie and Ryan had become fast friends. Now, she introduced him to Andrew and Charles. "Hello everyone." Ryan said, giving a quick nod. "Millie, I've come with a message from the director of the O.O.S. He wants you to do a mission regarding capturing the man who killed your parents. Do you accept?" After scanning the note, Millie nodded. "Of course. Father and Mother would want me to get revenge. Andrew, will you be okay here with Charles?" Charles and Andrew both nodded. Charles looked pleased. The plan was working better than he thought! "Great." Ryan said. "We leave tonight."
