A few chaps from a book Im writing smile Please comment
It was a cold, snowey night. A cold that made your body feel like a thousand needels in you when you went outside. The trees were covered in white, along with the ground, and the now frozen lake.
Locked away in their small, wooden cabbin were three orphans. Andy, Bella and Ceila.
Bella and Ceila were 12 and Andy was 14.
Their cabben was small, and made out of wood logs from ever-green trees.
Andy grunted and stood up from sitting around with the girls next to a wood-burning stove. He gave his aquantensis a stern look. "I'll be out. Ya'll need to eat, I don't need you goin' hungry. So I'm gonna go catch'cha someth'n ok." He threw on a heavy coat and opened the small door leading to the outside frozen wonderland. Bella jumped up.
"You say you don't need us goin' hungry but we don't need you gettin' sick! And you know the only thing you'd catch out there is a cold!"
Andy ignored her. He walked outside and the wind slamed the door behind him shut.
He looked around and all he could see was pale white. The snow hit his face with an icey sting and he headed twords the lake. He walked over the ice and pushed a break in it with his foot. He grabed a stick from the ground and sharpened the edge with his pocket knife. Looking clear into the small break, he waited for a fish to come by.
The girls were back inside still, worried sick about him being in the cold.
"What if he gets too cold!? What if he gets covered in snow!? What if a branch from a tree breaks off from havi'n so much snow on it and hits him!?" Bella went on and on with her ideas of all the possible bad things that could happen wile Andy was outside.
"Bella-- Shut up! None of that's gonna happen! God, you are so over dramatic sometimes..." Ceila sighed.
Meanwile, Andy had caught a fish on his hand made spear. He was now trying to catch a few more.
After around a half hour, he had returned into the cabbin.
"Yay! He's back!" Ceila cheered.
"Oh thank God!" Bella seemed overly relived.
"I have enough fish to last us till tomorow." Andy set down a big bag of small silver fish.
The girls reached out to pick up a fish. Bella right away grabbed one and choped the head and tale off. She stuck it onto a roasting stick and put it over the wood burning stove. Ceila hesatently did the same, watching to make sure that the fish was one hundred percent dead. Andy turned around wile the girls ate and let his mind ponder for a wile."This life.." He thought to himself. "It never seems to get any better. Never a good sign... It's always fighting-- Life or death... But sometimes... Just... Calm..." He then turned around and picked up a fish as well.
Outside the storm was calming. The snow was falling much lighter. Still though, it was freezing cold. Any animal that was out there for more than about an hour would surely be dead.
All getting ready for a night's sleep, the trio pulled out some blankets. "Ceila, Bella, you two need to sleep together tonight. It's way, way to cold for ya'll to sleep alone." Ceila sighed and set up Bella's pillow along side her own. Bella gave Andy a very taunting look.
"Well then what about you? Won't you freeze also?" She said in a smartelic tone.
"I'll be fine."
"But if we're gonna freeze then why ain't you?"
"Because I got more meat on my bones. Now go to sleep."
"Well what if I can't sleep? Then what?"
"Then I'll throw you outside so me n'Ceila can rest."
Bellas face turned red. "Well maybe I want to sleep outside! Afterall I'd freeze and die! Then I wouldn't have to live in this hell hole of a life anymore anyway!"
Andy looked in the other direction and herd her words echoing in his head. Bella went over next to the door and sat down, even if it was very cold. Ceila remained silent, trying her best not to get involved in the saddning conversation.
Night grew colder and colder. Ceila was shivering in her sleep. Andy was wide awake, but pretending to sleep. Bella was also awake, but not pretending at all. Still at the door, her eyes were filled with tears as she kept reliving the death of her family. "The plane was going down so fast." She whispered over and over.
Andy turned over and looked at her. A force was pushing him to go sit next to her. But he refused it. Trying his best to block out the voices in his head that were screaming "You idiot! Come on you know what you should do! So do it!"
Finialy he sat up almost silently. Bella had not even noticed. He quietly walked over to her and sat next to her, letting his hand come around on her shoulder. Bella jumped up at his touch and turned around. "Get away from me!" She yelled. Andy gave her a almost sad expression.
"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I didn't mean what I said-- I'd never do that."
Bella turned back away from him. He stood up and helped her up. "Now go on to sleep, we have a busy day tomorow. Lots of work to be done." Bella nodded and got under the thick quilt with Ceila.
The sun rose the next morning brightly in the sky. But as soon as it became a bit after ten thirty in the morning, gun shots started. Boom! Boom! Boom! Constent, one after another, non-stop.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ceila shot up awake screaming from a nightmare. She looked around at the sunlit room and herd the gun shots. Bella woke up next from hearing Ceila moving around and about trying to figure out where the sounds were coming from.
CRACK!! Bella jumped up and looked behind her. A hole was in the wall of there cabbin. Ceila screamed. "WHAT'S GOING ON!?" She bellowed. Bella stood strate up in shock.
"What IS going on.." She asked herself, trying to stay calm.
Then another hole appred in the wall.
"That's it."Bella murmered. She walked over to a small chest on the ground and opened it up. Inside were three guns. Bella pulled out one and walked over to the door. She signaled Ceila to hide, and opened the door with the gun in her hand ready to shoot. Andy barely woke up. Just opening his eyes. Bella ran out into the middle of a still frozen wonderland. Her eyes widend. The gun fell from her hands, which were shaking. "Oh...My....God...." She whispered. There must have been at least twenty. Twenty people. Armed with tons and tons of weapons. All laughing darkly.
They called out to one another in some forgin launage. Bella stood there with no motion. Her heart racing.
Ceila saw from the corner she was hiding in, that Bella was doing nothing to defend herself. She jumped up and ran outside. Bella fell to her knees. She was still in amazement of what she saw. Andy looked slightly out the door from being half asleep. His eyes widened and his jaw droped. In nothing more than a split second, one of thease people weilded a gun in his hand. He aimed for his target... and shot.
Bella screamed as she saw what was happening. Ceila's eyes turned wider than ever and grew dark. Bella pushed her as hard as she could, but it wasn't enough. The bullet tore into Ceila's skin, ripping it away from her shoulder.
Ceila fell backwards and passed out onto the ground. Andy ran over to her and lifted her into his arms. Bella's eyes filled with tears and her heart beat was hard and rapid.
No one said a single thing, but looked on in amazement and shock of what had happened.
"We...Need to get her to a hospitial..." Andy finialy spoke breaking the silence.
"We can't afford it! We can't even afford food. And it's the middle of winter-- Andy what are we gonna do?!" Bella went into panic.
"Shh... Bella calm down, we can get out of this, we'll pull through. now, do me a favor, get all them coats n'blankets together and load 'em up on the little sled we have lay'n by the stove over there." Andy tried to keep his tone of voice low, and easy-going, to keep Bella from going into total shock. Bella did as she was told, and loaded everything onto the sled.
Andy brought the bleeding Ceila over to the sled, and gently sat her down on it. "Bella, go get a lantern and a few packs of matches." He demanded. Once again, Bella did as she was told, to avoid worry and stress. When she returned, Andy lit the lantern and handed Bella a few coats. "Put thease on." He told her.
After the two of them were bundeled up, they wraped blankets around Ceila, who was still in a deep sleep.
"Heres what we gotta do," Andy looked Bella dead in the eye. "We gotta pull Ceila on the sled over to the city, when we get there we can get someone to give us some help. But, it ain't gonna be easy, we're pn a time limit here. We have two clocks goin'...Ceila's blood is runnin low, so that's the first clock, her life. The other is freezing rate. If we don't get to the city by three hours tops, then Ceila's not gonna be the only dead one."
Bella swallowed hard and shifted the sled outside, into the freezing cold air. Together, Andy and Bella pushed the sled down the icy path to the city. The cold air was so strong that it was making the walk feel heavy. Now, they had aout a couple of hours to get across a fifty mile path from the middle of no where to get into a the huge city of Clers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was around twenty minuits into the trip. The cold was smuthering. Ceila had woken up and was crying from the pain in her shoulder, wile Bella was trying to comfert her.
Andy was losing hope. Everything was falling apart.
He looked up and relised that his trio were ending their turn.
"Don't worry Ceila, it's ok, me n'Andy here are gonna get'cha to a doctor..." Bella whispered to Ceila, who now was cursing under her breath.
The cold was heavy, thick, and it was hard to walk through. And they were plowing through the miles of snow up to their knees. The tempature kept droping lower and lower.
Bella triped and fell into the snow. Andy let go of the sled and ran over to help her up. He lifted her up to her feet, but she triped again. Once again, Andy lifted her to her feet. Bella bit her lips and murmered "I messed up my foot somethin' feirce..." Andy looked back at Ceila, then to Bella.
He ripped a peice of the cloth from one of the blankets and clintchd it in his fists. He lifted up Ceila's arm and pulled off the blankets from her shoulder. He tied the cloth around her neck and down to her shoulder. He weaped around her shoulder a few times, then tied the two ends together.
Ceila woke up again. <--- Unfinished chap....no it aint that short...
