When I'm writing a book I can't listen to the thousands of songs I have. No there is a perfect set of songs that will fuel my emotions for this scene and this part of the book. I can't move on in the book till I find those songs or those rhythms.
I've been asked if this is annoying an pain staking to find the music, but half the time it is as though the music finds me. Like I'm getting writer's block then suddenly a song comes on the radio and that's it! That is the mood my character or the scene needs. That is what I've been looking for all this time.
My mother says artists are fickle. I agree, as an artist, I am very fickle indeed. Would I be me if I wasn't?
