Chapter 8 Part 3 A Vampire and the Ugly Duckling
Back in the Wrulthsta’s office, Wrulthsta and I were fighting it out. She somehow grew some black claws that floated around her to attack or block mine.
Despite my efforts, I kept slicing her to pieces on accident, but she kept reattaching herself.
“What are you?”
She laughed. “I am the most powerful type of half-people; One that overshadows all others. My form is the perfect fusion of the human and animal to create it. I am immortal.”
She floated up on top of her desk and she began to split apart into bats.
“V-V-Vampire?” I responded. Suddenly cold arms wrapped around my chest as well as a soft breath.
“Correct and when I bite you’ll be my slave and Navimle will be pleased.” She said as she opened her mouth to bite.

Up above, Vayu was having hard time striking his opponent despite her size.
“You can’t touch me. No one lays their common hands on me.”
Vayu kept striking try to cut one of her wings, but she always managed to dodge.
Meanwhile Charlie was dodging each of the pseudo Queen’s attacks.
Vayu pulled back and Charlie caught up with him.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, but I can’t get a hit in. If she was distracted for a few seconds, I could get a hit in.”
“A distraction? I can do it.”
“No, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
She laughed. “Vayu, how long have you known me?”
“But this time is different, it could be fatal.”
“I know, but” she whispered in his ear, “I’ll always have your back no matter what.”
Vayu turned red then the pseudo Queen interrupted them.
“Are you two love birds done saying your last good bye?”
Vayu and Charlie faced her.
“No, we’ll say that many decades from now.” Vayu said.
Vayu flew up into the air while Charlie began to run circles around the pseudo Queen.
At first the queen ignored it thinking it was to distract her and focused on Vayu. However after a few seconds, she felt some wind resistance under her. She looked to see that Charlie was creating a small tornado under her and soon was caught in it.
Vayu then went in for the strike, but the pseudo Queen managed to miss the kill, but her wing was damaged a bit. She screeched and flew straight up in the air.
Vayu landed and said, “This isn’t over, not by a long shot.” He turned to Lynette. “I will get that key.” She smiled.
Then his back got a bit heavier.
“Your not going alone.” Said Charlie.
“No, stay. I’ll return.”
“Nope, we’re going together.” She said with a bright smile.
“Fine just please don’t die.” He said as he took off.
“Same to you Vayu.” She whispered.

With Wrulthsta’s fangs close to my neck, I drop my blades. She stopped.
“You give up?” She said.
“Nope, it was to distract you from this.” I pulled out a hidden blade from my back and stabbed her in her side.
She jump back and I immediately grabbed my blades to strike, but she transformed into bats and shift back to her desk and back away to the window.
I slowly came up towards her when an ear-piercing scream broke out and shattered the lights and windows. Wrulthsta jumped out the window when I tried to regain my hearing.
I looked to see she was floating to the cage. I jumped out the window and followed after her.

Vayu and Charlie caught up with the pseudo Queen. The rain and wind was getting worst and lightning was striking everywhere.
The pseudo Queen was panting for air and had change back to her normal form.
“Damn you both. I will kill both of you. I am the true queen not that annoying crow.”
“Why are you doing this?”
“Why you ask. Because she took everything away from me.”
She started to relax a bit even with the chaos swirling around them.
“I was born with beautiful white wings at birth and was highly revered as the most lovely, but slowly after school started they started to fade into black and people started pushing me away, leaving me to be alone. Slowly I became more hideous and slowly drew away from social life.”
Vayu slapped his forehead; he didn’t want her life story but she continued.
“Then she came to me and offered to be my friend. She was beautiful too. ‘Why did she want to be with me?’ was what I wondered. Then I realize I was just to improve her own beauty by being compared to me. I refused and then was mocked for the rest of my life.”
“Okay, I think she skipping some details.” Vayu whispered to Charlie who nodded in response.
“Then after many years, Wrulthsta came to me and she offered me to be more beautiful then her. I accept her offer taking her to this kingdom and gave me the queen’s appearance. I was now the more beautiful and powerful person alive.”
“Okay, that’s enough.” shouted Vayu. “Your story has no logic and it just sounds like you’re a whiny crow that just saw thought the world should revolve around them. You own jealousy and desires caught you up in this and I bet Wrulthsta could care less about your well being unlike Lynette.”
The pseudo Queen growled, “SHUT UP! You know nothing of me. I am the true queen.”
“Fine be what you want, but you will give up that key.”
“Ha go ahead and try.”
“Charlie hold on tight and be careful. I am about to do something stupid and dangerous.”
She increased her grip. “I believe in you.”
Vayu smile and pointed one of his metal claws at the pseudo Queen.
“I admitted this technique isn’t perfectly mastered, but I think I have enough control for you.” He lifted his other metal claw into the air.
“Take this ‘Lightning Redirection!!’”

Chasing after Wrulthsta was hard to do in this cloudy area, but soon we passed the cage and were heading up higher past the castle.
Seeing the cage in pieces, a chain queen, no Vayu or Charlie and heading other voices above us, I manage to guess the situation.
I manage to join the battlefield right when Vayu pointed his claw at the pseudo Queen
“Take this ‘Lightning Redirection!!’” Vayu said.
Lightning struck his blade and within a split second, it shot out of his other claw, more powerful and destructive. The lightning pierced the pseudo Queen making a hole in her.
She slowly fell from the sky and was caught by Wrulthsta.
“My mistress…give me more…power to defeat these…lower beings.”
“No.”
“What?”
“It is time for you to serve your last purpose.”
Wrulthsta then place her hand on the pseudo Queen and slowly she began to disappear.
She screamed in pain as something metal fell from them.
“What are you doing?”
“Your body will be one with me and with it, you will die.”
“No, stop I don’t want to die.” She was crying in fear. I was going to go save her when a hand stop me.
“Don’t. You can’t save her. She was already lost.”
He was right, but I still felt a small bit of hope, but slowly that light vanished into the dark.
Wrulthsta was now cover in feathers and had a set of wings, but that dark aura seemed to have diminished or gone astray.
She turn and went to strike us. I dodged instantly, but Vayu had a harder time.
He had to make sure to dodge her strikes, but to also make sure Charlie wouldn’t get hurt.
Charlie was think of something while holding on to Vayu. She had a scared look in her eyes,
“Vayu?” She whispered.
“What?”
“Let me go.”
He froze in place and I quickly blocked Wrulthsta’s attack from hitting them.
“What are you saying?”
“If you can’t dodged her, we’ll both die. If I let go then you can win.”
“No, you promise you wouldn’t die on me.”
She kissed his cheek. “I love you, Vayu.” She then jumped off of him.
At first Vayu was in shock, then dived after her. Unfortunately Wrulthsta beat him to her and blocked him off. Then Charlie disappeared behind the clouds.
“CHARLIE!!!” He shouted.
“Hahahaha, how sweet. Letting herself die first before you, why don’t you join her.”
Vayu snapped and began to claw her away. He manage to make a mark near her heart and she screamed in pain and fell as well, but she’d be back.
I flew to Vayu, the storm was getting intense.
“Vayu, she’ll be back.”
“Charlie why?” Was all he said as his face was covered in more water.
“Vayu, snap out of it.” He grabbed me by the collar again.
“WHY? WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO YOU? TELL ME NOW!!!”
“Because then Charlie would want you to finish the job.”
He growled then punch me. “Never say that again.”
“Vayu, I know your in pain right now and I am probably one of the last people you’ll trust, but I want you to trust me now.”
“SHUT UP!”
“LOOK AT YOURSELF.” I shouted back. “WHAT ARE YOU? ARE YOU THE MAN CHARLIE LOVED OR A COWARD WHO HATES REALITY? YOU NEED TO ACCEPT THAT YOU CAN’T DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF.” He was startled. Actually I was shocked I could yell like that.
“I want you to trust me. If I get one chance let me use it now.” I said more calmly.
He was silent for a while. I sensed Wrulthsta coming back ready for her second strike.
“Fine, but if this fails. I am going to kill you first.”
I laughed a little. Then moved into position.
“What are we doing anyway?”
“Your Lightning Redirection.”
“But isn’t she a vampire.”
“She was, but I think when she combine with that girl, it made her mortal.”
“That’s sound ridiculous.”
“Yes, but her skin is tough.”
“Whatever, but how will this help?”
“I’ll use my blades to redirect the lightning to you as well as some lightning magic to increase power then you shoot her.”
“Are you crazy do you know how much electricity that is?”
“Yes, but it will kill her for sure. So ready because we have about 30 seconds.”
He hesitated but set to aim his strike.
Ten seconds: I raised my blade into the air.
Eight: Lightning strikes it
Six: I transfer to my other blade with some magic. Suffer minor internal burns.
Five: I shoot at Vayu.
Three: He takes it in and prepares to fire.
Two: Wrulthsta is in sight.
One: She strike; he fires.
“KIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” She screams as she is being zapped with who knows how many bolts coming at her like a cannon.
She slowly turns to ash and I drop down to get the NMCM.
“It is over.” I said when the rain began to clear up.
The sun broke through the sky and the dawn welcomed us.
I smiled, but Vayu was still down.
“Charlie.”
I went over to pat his back when suddenly two figures appeared from the cloud banks.
“VAYU!!” Shouted one of them as they waved their hands for attention.
Vayu turned and in the blink of an eye was next to Charlie being supported by Lynette.
I flew over as Charlie and Vayu embraced and kissed. It looked very romantic in the sunlight, that was for sure.
Then they remembered we were there and laughed it off with red faces. Never had I seen Vayu look so funny.
Slowly we descended back to the castle as the sun continued to breakthrough the clouds.
