An ecstatic, energetic silence permeated the thousands of people waiting outside of the large, raised marble platform for the new King’s acceptance speech. The beautiful stadium was raised several feet above the ground, on top of a gently sloping, green hill. Behind it sat the enormous and magnificent Imperial Palace made of polished white granite, gold and diamond. Yet, the focus of the shuffling thousands of people was not to view the palace, but to view only a single person; their new ruler.
As the trees shuffled gently in the wind, the two stars perched high in the sky created a surreal scene, making the sky a bright, blue sapphire among two blazing balls of fire. Then, slowly but surely, a small figure approached the front of the stadium. The figure, cloaked in all black stood at the edge of the marble platform. The crowd remained silent, still, watching. “Ladies and gentlemen,” came a booming voice from inside the hooded figure, “I give you with great honor, your new ruler, King Remiel!”
There was a loud, unanimous “Hail, King Remiel!” And then a burst of applause, as screaming and joyous laughter filled the air. The Imperial Designers sent blasts of shining fire into the sky and created large bridges of ice in the air producing various backdrops of rainbows throughout the area. The people gasped in delight, and pointed in wonder at how a massive statue of the new King was formed from the earth and then brought up, hovering, into the sky.
Then, the new King stood on the platform, with an air of confidence, pride and majesty. Clothed in a simple blue robe with golden laces spun throughout it, he sparkled with splendor. A splendor that the people thought was deserving of their new leader. Quickly, the crowd quieted down, as the Imperial Designers ended their elemental spells of entertainment; evaporating the ice, stopping the fires and placing the statue of the King back on the ground. Silence once again gripped the thousands of spectators, waiting for the King’s speech.
“My people,” boomed the King, his graying beard moving slightly in the breeze, “I am truly honored and humbled that you would select me to lead our great Elemental Nation of Navarra back to its former glory!” He waited for the applause to die down, and then continued with his speech. “Though we of varying elements have our differences and rivalries, we can all come together and say that we are truly one nation, one great country in this world with great powers as well. We as a people have been blessed by the Great One to wield the powers of nature. We, though divided in element of fire, water, earth and air, can come together and proudly say we wield the power of the world! The power of life! The power of leadership! And, most importantly, we wield the power of love.” There was another blast of applause, that lasted several minutes and the King simply nodded in thanks and gratitude to his people.
“For too long we have been divided by our sectional and elemental affiliation. We are one great people and we must understand that we are different, yet we are one. There is a force out there that wants us to be gone, washed forever away from this world that we have been given. Yet we, as a united front, will not let that happen!” There was a great round of applause and cheer as Remiel paused for a moment. “And with these words that I have spoken today, I humbly and gratefully accept the position of being your ruler. I swear to uphold righteousness, justice and peace for our nation. And we shall be united as one!”
The King turned as the thousands of people cheered and applauded him, smiling with great enthusiasm at the hope he instilled in the people. For over two decades the four Elemental Provinces had squabbled with one another over rights, political powers, and land issues. But now, hopefully, Navarra would be united.
As Remiel walked towards his private Aeroship, the sound of a sonic boom ripped through the air. He looked up towards the sky and off in the distance three black dots, slowly materializing came closer and closer towards the podium. Soon after, those in the crowd began to notice it as well and pointed towards the sky in confusion and wonder. Suddenly, someone in the crowd gasped in terror as the now completely viewable flying machine was in full sight. “Valkero Bomber Squads!” came a terrified gasp from the crowd.
Pandemonium erupted. The crowd of thousands of frenzied people began to scatter, trying to run as far away as possible from the stadium, trampling one another in the process. The king stood in utter shock and disbelief. No… not now. This can’t be happening...
Then, the worst to come was absolutely unleashed without mercy. As King Remiel stood in shock at the new development and guards ran and rushed at him and people scattered away in mass panic from the stadium, three black circles fell from the thin planes in the sky. One fell directly in front of Remiel, and the two others in various places in the crowds.
“No! My country!” the new King shouted in terror and despair, as suddenly a blast of blue light flashed forward and blew a massive hole in the marble stadium. A blast of hot air exploded from the bomb, and sent guards that were several hundred feet away flying into the distance, scorching them at the same time.
The other two bombs exploded, sending hundreds of people soaring through air and terrifying the rest of the populace. Where the new King once stood a smoldering, charred hole now existed in his place. Navarra, the Elemental Nation, was thrown once again into a state of turmoil without a leader…
